should just be able to copy and paste your vdj folder to your mac and everything should be the same. it worked with v7 but not had to do it with v8.

Actually no, not unless your files are stored on an external HDD

ah yes, good point, mine have always been on external hdd, probably why it seems so easy.

so if i copy all files ect to external hd then vdj will pivk up xml and rewrite so i dont lose anything

As long as you use the copy function from within the VDJ browser.

I went from Windows to Mac once before and it was a nightmare. I only lasted 6 months or so and went back to Windows.

Things may be better now but MacOS is just strange if you have never used it before and nothing worked the way it was supposed to. I still can't help thinking that people buy macs because of the street cred and not the functionality.

Good luck Staffy, you'll need it!

You need to open the database in an XML editor and do a find replace on the file path.

im not sure about street cred, but you must have had a pretty bad experience keith to go back to windows after moving to mac, i too thought nothing worked on mac at first, but the thing is, everything works!! right out of the box.

with windows i had to install 5 trillion updates, 97 items of software and 648,251 (and a half) , drivers just to get anything at all to function. so far after being with mac for over a year. ive installed probably 1 dozen updates, zero drivers (because everything just works) , and only 2 software items, one to open .rar files and one to read ntfs.

the problem i had with mac at first was wondering why there was no software to make this work and that work. it wasnt like windows at all, then i suddenly realised, everything you need is pretty much built in. i cant use windows any more since they changed it to 8 and 10.

i get a headache just switching on my windows machine these days.

Windows is fine once set up. I just disable updates and never have any issues at all.

I haven't been brave enough to try 10 yet, although my son got a new gaming desktop for Xmas with a clean version of 10 on it and he's had no issues at all.
