I'd like to map a key to set master tempo to 0, the master_tempo function doesn't seem to do that.

Your post is ambiguous. Do you want to reset the key of the track, or to reset the pitch (playback speed) to zero?
The master_tempo command is similar to key_lock and is nothing to do with pitch.

"pitch 100%" will make the deck jump straight to 0
"pitch_reset" will do it gradually (you can add a number to change the tempo for the gradual change)

There's also a config option to reset the pitch automatically whenever you load a track.
