If you already installed a trial version and the trial is over, you can't extend the trial. That's it - the trial is over.
You can still get 10 minutes of use every time you run VDJ with a controller on the free Home version, to test before you buy.

Since you said "new to this" did you try? Just connect the controller, and see ..
