Since I seem to be having weekly problems with my DDJ-RZ using asio drivers from Pioneer, is there a down side to using Wasapi drivers.

Probably better to use the Asio drivers in this case.
The Wasapi drivers are generic Windows drivers, that can work great.
But if having issues, try the Asio drivers, that are made by Pioneer
