I'm looking for a way to add the current song title playing to the video screen while playing back. As the next song plays, the display changes to that title as well.

Likes of this would do fine. You can modify the xml to have it display permanently if you want but beware of screen burn-in

The default video skin does that.
Here is an example with the crossfader all the way to the left and another example with the crossfader all the way to the right (both are combined with shaders)
But you can also use other videoskins instead, which you can download under extensions

Yes, that will differ from videoskin to videoskin (and you can edit a skin yourself if needed)
For instance the default videoskin "For Live" keeps the name showing until you fade out of the track
