Sujet Pioneer DDJ800 mic talkover not working
Hello!

I have recently purchased a Pioneer DDj800 and I use it with Virtual DJ. My problem is that Mic talkover is not working. Could you please help me?

Note: in the DDJ800 settings I have selected hardware so the mic works.
Additional info that I also tried it with Rekordbox but it doesn’t work.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,
Gábor

Maybe that's your problem.

You apply Mic Talkover from the VDJ, using some action, correct ? I dont see any Mic Talkover on the DDJ-800.

In this case, you need to use the Software Mic mode and have the Mic as an input in your Audio setup
Dont have the device to check, but the steps should be ...

- Have the MIC On/Off switcher on the DDJ-800 to ON.
- Have the DDJ800-MicMode VDJ setting to 'Software'
- Have the Mic as an input in Audio Setup as shown here.. https://www.virtualdj.com/img/292595/56124/Sound%20Setup%20Default.png
- Have the MIC ON button enabled in Master Panel of VDJ

Then the software Talkover shoudl work.

Hello DJDAD!

Thank you for your answer. According to my understanding the DDJ800 has a mic talkover function basically.

Unfortunately I tried the settings and it doesn’t work. The mic works perfectly but the sound volume remains the same while I am speaking. ( I think that due to the mic talkover function it should be lowered while I am speaking automatically)

I think that DDJ800 has a hardware mic talkover function.

Do you have any other idea?

Thank you for your help!

Regards,
Gábor

It doesn't - its user manual states that the feature has to be activated in the Rekordbox software.

Thank you DJ Vinyltouch for your answer!

I have tried it also in Rekordbox but unfortunately it doesn’t work in Rekordbox. I have set everything in Rekordbox (advanced type, -24 db, etc.) but I cannot use it. Is there any other possible place where I should set it?

Or what do you mean under activating the feature?

Thanks!

Take a look at page 77 in its official user manual

@djdad gave the details on how you would do that in VirtualDj. I think the only thing that was omitted was mapping a custom button with the vdjscript verb mic_talkover and activating it after switching the mic on (then it uses VirtualDJ's mic talkover functionality).
mic_talkover also takes argumenta to adjust how it works (see its details in the VDJ script verb listing)

DJ Vinyltouch! Thank you, I am checking it.

DJ Vinyltouch! You are totally right regarding the Rekordbox. I was a little bit lame, now it is working in Rekordbox.

But does it mean that in Virtual Dj it can inly works with a custom button and cannot be an automatic as it is Rekordbox?

Thanks again for your comment!

I made a thing for windows that detects input, that can be tuned, level threshold, hold duration, level floor.

either mic or line in.

It honestly depends on the skin you are using (and even the variant of the skin). I don't think any of the default skin variants has a dedicated button for it, but other skins might. @locodog just provided a variant he made for himself...you can probably work with him to make something that works for you.
