I just got a pioneer S5 mixer and I can’t use the FX normal. It sounds really bad and if I hold any FX button for few seconds, I can see the program reacting to the buttons but no audio. Any advise? Thanks.

It's not really clear what the problem is that you are describing, but the first advice would be to read and understand:
Additional info:
The DJM-S style mixers use a battle style layout with lever activation of effects (up = latch, down = temporary). Pressing an FX button only loads that effect for use amongs the decks, it doesn't activate it (that's what the levers are for).
- The DJM S5 hardware manual
- The effects section of the VirtualDJ user manual.

Hi, thank you for helping. The mixer works great with Serato. Once I try it with VDJ, the FX doesn’t work. This is a video I found that shows what I experienced. https://youtu.be/B8sIaFvY5FA?si=S3r9--tKFJ3ELsLK

A few things:
It is recommended, once again, to check the two manual links provided...how it works with serato (button labelling, etc) doesn't mean that's how it will work with VirtualDJ and the way effects work in VirtualDJ can be different from Serato.
- The hold press you did is supposed to activate scratch cutter mode, which is a mode that is meant for you to move the platter with you hand while the mixer decides, based on what you selected, how to cut up the sample
- You eventually got a sequence where you selected the echo effect, switched on the lever and you saw it was on, but nothing happened. How did you setup the echo FX settings?
Also, do you have your fxProcessing setting set to post?

The Effects on S5 rely on FX Send/Return USB channels, as per the Audio Setup
If you are on Mac, you will need to allow "Microphone" (thats how Mac name all Inputs) to be used by VDJ from Mac Privacy & Security->Microphone)
Also on Mac, even if Driver is not required, it's good to install https://www.pioneerdj.com/en/support/software/mixer/djm-s5/#drivers as it will offer the ability to access device's Utilities
