Sujet: Virtual DJ and Cathy
Good morning everyone,
I am a Newbie here and would first like to greet everyone.
Introducing myself, I am almost 65 years old and in the late 70s of the last century I was working as a DJ in a bigger Disco. But then everything was toooootally different.
Now I try to set up a small private Disco (nothing commercial) in my place and I use Virtual DJ. So far everything works fine. For searching my music among my files I use the freeware "Cathy". Up to now it worked perfectly, I was searching my title in Cathy and per Drag and Drop I moved it to one of the turntables in Virtual DJ.
Now I experience that this does not work any more. I can drag and drop the file but then Virtual DJ shows me only "Error". Maybe I accidentally made a change in the settings?
Please, do you have any ideas for me?

For my own curiosity, what are the advantages to use "Cathy"? At this point I don't understand the reasons behind it.

Just for searching easily among thousands of files. Ex: For the song "I wanna kiss you all over" I only write "kiss you" and get all results where this string is included. I drop it from there on the turntable - that's it.

Can I do this also with Virtual DJ?
 
Add:
Cathy has scanned my complete Harddisk with around 800 GB files. The search for a title takes less than a second
 
you can do this through the browser of vdj. I think you could get the same results in terms of speed like cathy

many thanks for your answer but maybe I have to clarify my request a little bit:

- in Cathy I search for example for a song called "Square Dance abc" - I get exactly the correct hit

- in Virtual DJ I search for the same but get NO hit because in Virtual DJ folders this song is only displayed as "Track 1"

This happens to so many songs, in the Windows Explorer they are displayed perfectly but not in VirtualDJ.

Maybe this is my problem???
 
Sounds like you need to change your tag file settings in VDJ
 
Yeah do some reading up on id3 tags.
