Sujet: FLX10 audio routing sampler+headphone
Dear community and support,

with my DDJ-FLX10 I am moving from Rekordbox to VirtualDJ because VDJ is really much faster, much better and much more user friendly. I am not satisified with my free harware-linked RB. I still use the 30 days free license of VDJ, but would like to purchase soon the full Pro license.

But I am struggling with correct audio routing of sampler and headphone. I can realize either sampler signal on controller output OR deck signals on headphone output. But I cannot realize both signals on controller AND headphone output.

In the default audio settings in VirtualDJ for FLX10 only deck and headphone is configured. With this the sampler signals can only be heard in the headphone but not on the controller output. I tried other settings, but could not combine sampler and headphone in the correct way. Even with usage of soundcard of PC for headphone I could not find a solution.

I am using PCs with Win10 and Win11 and VDJ v2025_b8502 and FLX10 with FW v113.

What is the correct configuration for audio with headphone AND sampler signal?

Why? Because not only VDJ is very good, but also this forum with its members.
Thank you very much!

With the default settings, you should hear the sampler on the output it was triggered from.
So if you use the pads on deck 1, then the sampler should be audible on master if the deck 1 faders are up.

Thank you Adion,
sorry, with these default settings it does not work on my FLX10.
I can hear the sampler audio ONLY on the headphone, when I push the related sampler cue button.
But the sampler audio is NOT on the master or booth output. What is wrong?

I am using my notebook NOT for any audio routing. The PC is only the interface to the controller and of course for VirtualDJ. Headphone and loudspeakers are connected only to the FLX10.

Have you raised the channel's volume fader up ?

When you trigger the sampler from a deck, the level can be linked to the decks fader.

FYI: The sampler in VirtualDJ 2025 consist of 2 types of banks:
Regular Banks and StemSwap Banks.

These 2 banks have some differencies on how they operate.
For instance, "Regular" banks can be set to output their sound directly to the master sound output, OR to the triggering deck.
However, "StemSwap" banks, due to their nature (replacing parts of a song) are locked to always output the sound on the deck that triggered the sample.

The new default "Loopmaster" bank in VirtualDJ 2025 is a "StemSwap" bank. This means that it always trigger it's samples to a deck, and therefore the deck volume plays part on how loud the samples play back.
On the other hand the default "I know this" bank is a "Regular" bank and therefore it can be set to playback directly on master if you wish so.

Of course the deck volume fader is raised.
Otherwise there would be no music on the speakers!
But no sampler audio (only with sampler cue button on headphone)

Yes, of course the sampler volume knob is also raised. With RB this does work as expected, but not with VDJ.

BTW: Every track which is loaded on a deck is listed under "Sampler - Per-Song" and marked with "StemSwap bank". I am using for example "Loopmasters A" with "StemSwap bank" greyed out and marked with "Locked bank" and "Set active". But these samples are only in headphone and not on the speakers. Am I alone in the universe with this strange issue?

Is the samplerOutputDeck option set to default as well?

Adlon or Adion,

you save my life! That was it!
Who set this parameter to "-1"? The PEBKAC?
Correct parameter is "samplerOutputDeck: 0".

Parameter "samplerHeadphones: No" is ok, because on the FLX10 there is the sampler cue botton for this purpose.

I like VDJ now totally, because you can configure everything.
But the risk of PEBKAC does increase with this.

I am now also a PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair.
But I will certainly join the ProInfinity community.

Thank you very much and best regards

That's the beauty of VDJ. If you have technical issues the devs are right here to find a solution and if something needs to be implemented it's done within hours usually. No other product offers this. Not even close.

I've been using Denon Engine since October and reported several bugs (which they acknowledged). Best I got is that the devs team might look at them but thats it.

There's the difference.
