Support for reading tags. That is all.

And if you can coordinate with that mp3tag guy, Florian, on the preferred mapping, even better!

Is there any tag(s) in particular that you are missing, given VirtualDJ already reads most of the standard tags already (even more so that other software like Serato)?

Well, near as I can tell, it doesn't read any tags from the MKV file/container. It just parses and guesses TITLE and ARTIST from the filename, using a dash as a parser. I figured out that if I had "extra" dashes in the filename like "B-52's" instead of "B52's", it would completely mess up the Title and Artist fields in the database.

The most important other tags besides TITLE and ARTIST would be GENRE and YEAR.

If I manually use the VDJ tag editor, it will save in the database, not overwrite anything in the container. If I Reload Tags, all the fields besides Title and Artist disappear again.

And I just double checked. VDJ also does not load the album art from the MKV container.

I agree it doesn't do well with mkv files currently (the primary reason I use Handbrake, to convert any such files to mp4 which is well supported).

To be fair there aren't many tools that do well with the metadata of mkv files.

Just be careful to be specific with reports in future - VirtualDJ does read tags of most common files pretty well.
