Sujet: v8.5 Sampler
it's been a while since i have edited my sampler banks..so when i finally did..i realized some things had changed..
now the banks are in folders instead of xml files in the app data folder..with folder having the name of the bank and inside every bank folder..there is a xml file just named bank.xml...
so i completely reconstucted my sampler banks to work with this new method with no problems...
but i have a few questions..
firstly i notice that vdj makes a copy of the actual sample file(.mp3 or what have u)in the bank folder when u add a new sample in for the 1st time...and only if u edit the sample it then creates the .vdjsample file next to the copy of the actual sample..
i experimented a bit and i realized that the sampler will not play if u delete the .vdjsample file..but still plays if u delete the .mp3 file in the sampler app data folder..
keeping this is mind...if i remove a sample from a bank inside vdj..the .vdjsample file is deleted automatically from the physical folder..which from my recollection was not so previously...instead the xml file was edited..
now say i want to re-add the removed sample...the sample is treated as a new sample once again.. because the .vdjsample file had been deleted by vdj...
to avoid this..why can vdj keep all removed samples' .vdjsample files & instead use the xml file to determine which samples should be visible in the bank???
also...i have some samples that i want in more than one bank..so say i drag in a sample from a downloads folder...edit it etc as i want it..then i drag in the same file from the downloads folder to another bank...vdj treats it as a new sample once again...why can't vdj remember that this sample is already in the memory...is only when i drag and drop the .vdjsample file.then vdj recognises it.
