When i download a skin and un zip it i only get the bmp and xml file.

Just but both files (BMP and XML) in the skin subdirectory of the Atomix folder.
If you then choose skin in the Atomix configuration menu, *magic* *magic* you'll see the skin appears.
(reading through the forum [and the add-ons section] should've made you aware that the skin engine is now running on an XML basis)
