I generally try to find a decent re-mix... the Funkymix subscription service seems to offer the best hip hop remixes. Remember now, Atomix counts the beats of these mixes all wrong, so you have to do it the old fashioned way. I can work a smooth set of perfectly mixed "hip hop" using just about all Funkymix tracks. The thing is, you have to be very familiar with the tracks, manually count the beats, and just know which song will work in the set... Hip hop generally seems to run between 80 beats per minute, up to somewhere around 116-118. I usually manually edit the BPM reported by Atomix, then I do a search for the word "mix" (make sure all your re-mixes have the word mix in them somewhere) then I sort by BPM... then I start browsing and choosing from 80-120 bpm. I try to start a set somewhere around 100 bpm... then work it up and down to cover the entire range. I adjust weather I work up... or down based on actual requests that have been mentioned.
it's FUN!

Yeah.........I understand the whole B.P.M. deal........I really think when this program was made the B.P.M. feature was meant more for techno songs because all my techno songs are right, usually between 125 & 135. Sometimes when I download a hip hop song, which is all I usually mix, it has the right BPM but alot of the time it's wrong. I agree also about the buttons on the keyboard. Alot of the buttons I use such as the 1/2 & 1/4 loop & alot of other stuff is on the keyboard simply because it is easier so......We all share the same hints......by-the-way......Holla if u got the new effect called "Flippin' Doubles"........it's phat!!!! PEACE

With 50 Cent in da club, it's a wierd song to mix with, but i've come across a few songs that it mixes nice with, Family Affair sounds nice, and when done properly It's all about the benjamins sounds phat. But the best one, once again done properly is Hey sexy lady (mix factor)..

It rolls along at about 90 beats per minute... it's a fairly simple track to fit into a set... can't imagine why you'd be having trouble mixing it.

hey geezus2uk here.... i ONLY mix with hip hop or bashment(this is wat we call hard reggae in the uk)... the best way i find to mix hip hop is to listen to the track a few times and gauge the weakest or the end of the main rap and drop straight into the first chorus or first beat of the new track depending on how hard the intro is.....does anyone know of a good backspin add-on as i dont think the ones out there match my specific requirements (very picky i know :) )?????? anyway homeboy let me know how you get on peace an i'm outta here................. ONE.........

all i mix is hip hop, r&b, reggae and soca... i have made probably 15 mix CDs all from it and have many more on the way... i dj them in such a way that i usually get about 125 songs on an 80min CD.. i have made my own blends, dubplates, everything possible with atomix... started doing live shows at bars and house parties and everyone has given much respect.. if u can feel a beat, and if u can read the crowd, its easy enough to mix everything.. personally, i am a big fan of quick samples in just to get things goin

holla back..
