Hey everyone,
Im having a little problem with some of the sound configurations in virtual dj. I have a Maya 1010 hooked up to a Numark PPD9000. I get great quality sound when I setup 2 sound card settings with 1/2 on deck one and 3/4 on deck 2. The problem is when I try to setup Advanced config 1/2 's sound quality is perfect but 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 have cracking noises and pops. I have tested every setup on the 2 sound card setting and they all work fine.... any ideas on what this could be??
Thanks again in advance,
Nick

Hi Musicflex,
There are many reasons as to why popping and crackling noises come about.
Please take a look at this helpfull link. It will take you through many causes like ACPI, shared IRQ's,slow CPU, resource conflicts, chipset issue etc. Just to name a few.

hey muzza,
Thanks for the info. I tested eveything I thought it might be - nothing.... I think it may be a bug in the software.... is there anyone with a Maya 1010 that is having the same problem as I am? Just to recap this problem only effects the sound quality on channels 3-8 on advanced config only...

yep i had this prob with the mk1 and even worse with the mk2 hercules running on a good lap top p4 3gig 750 meg ram,had all mp3 on ext hardrive on usb, would pop or get breif silance on tunes that were bit on the large side,i thought it might be the usb ports on the laptop being abit slow so i tryed my pc,and as all my usb ports were full had to run through usb hub that was ext powerd run perfict, hmmm i thought hub ,,powerd,,so pluged into laptop, yep you geust it no more pops or lock ups,run it over 6 hours not one prob, and that was on the mk1 and 2,and on the mk1 did get some niose bleedthrough but that went as well, so try a usb hub witch has exturnal power supply...
ps the mk2 headphone output is much lower than the mk1 so get your self headphone amp you need it when playing in a club...

I think there is a bug in the "Advance" setting. Use the dual soundcard setting for now.

I notice the excact same problem with my Maya1010. I also think there are a bug i advancedconfig.
But I found a little !work-around!.
- Start Virtual DJ
- Edit soundcards, and set it to the first option (one soundcard)
- Press OK
- Edit soundcards, do the advanced setting as you want it
- Press OK
Now it plays without noise and clicking. But! NOTICE when you restart Virtual DJ, you'll have to do the trick again...
(I have not testet it on a live job yet)
How can we notify Virtual DJ-team about this bug?

Having the same issue, thought it was my soundcard. It appears that others are having the same problem, which leads me to believe it's a software issue, not a PC issue in the Advance Config section.

There's no bug in the advance VDJ sound advance config this problem is usually related to UNEVEN POWER SUPPLY OF THE USB that makes the sounds so bad possibly because it is below the 500mA at 5V per USB socket. Some USB's doesn't come exactly as 5v maybe under power and a variety of USB FLASH DRIVES, HARD DRIVES, CONTROLLERS, CAMERAS, PRINTERS, SCANNERS, SOUNDCARDS & MP3 PLAYER or anything that is being plug-in to the USB slot of your computer draws in variations like for example 100 mA, 200 mA and 500mA at which is not standardized that's why it is become unstable and output is bad. I myself experienced i bought a USB Flash Drive and when plug it to my MAC it say "NOT ENOUGH POWER". In Windows OS it doesn't give you an alert that your are plugging-in an underpowered device so you don't know.
Now if you want to know how much power does your device have? In PC Windows OS you must do this: In Device Manager for each USB root hub look at Properties then Power. But again Windows OS will not tell you the right power so the best solution is try to look this tools below that will let measure the USB device:
If you don't have this then look usb hub which has external power supply which was already mention above... is one of the good alternative solution.
