What is the difference between a PCI Express graphics card and a AGP card.

I have a guy that is going to trade me a computer for some gear I have laying around, but the system has a 256 AGP video card. Is that as good or better than a 128 pci express?

The 256MB RAM might help for gaming, but you're not going to notice much of a difference (if any) with VDJ. The main thing is the graphics processor and whether it does/doesn't support DirectX9. I can give you more detail If you post the makes of the 2 cards, e.g.:

AGP Card: BFG Geforce 6800GT
PCIe Card : Gigabyte GV-RX80256D Radeon X800

The 256 Video card is an nvidea evga video card (5500).

The 128 PCI Express was the 6600GT

Well, both support DX9 and both are more than good enough for VDJ visuals.

I do a lot of gaming & graphical work outside of VDJ so I would choose the 6600GT, hands-down. Also, if you take the system with the AGP card, you're not going to have a very good upgrade path. Almost all (if not all) future graphics cards will be PCIe ONLY, so if you want to upgrade your card in the future you'll have to buy a PCIe motherboard and possible a new CPU and RAM to go with it.

Let me know if you have any other questions (you can PM me or post here).
