This function used to work until recently,
The fault is nothing to with settings, I've tried asio mode as well with no difference.
The same fault is with 2 PCs here, 1 is running XP and the other win2k , the mic impedance does not suit any of my Shure mics, so I've been using an Audio Technica radio mic that has more gain.( I can make it peak if I cup my hands and shout into the mic)
When the mic encoding failed it sounded garbled on my last stream, however the mic sounds fine out of the line out.
I see I'm not the only person with the fault, any ideas?

Choose broadcast from Master + MIC
And make sure Hercules mic is the default mic in Windows.
Make sure that Hercules "listen" to mic in, and not line in (hercules control pannel)

Thanks DJ,
Win2k would not select the Hercules in sound settings, just kept going blank after I applied it.
I installed XP on it and it seems to be sorted.
