Following the NEWS of the web site in the next day will released the new Virtual DJ 4.0

Before installing the upgrade I suggest to make a backup of your database that is stored in virtual DJ installation folder usually:

C:Program files Virtual DJ

The files intereted are:

VirtualDJ Database.xml
mp3database.txt

Aftrer when the installation is done you can copy again the two file in your installation folder.
It's important make this operation because you can lost all your database.
That's all
bye

Great topic moramax, this should be a sticky! Norway? :)
I know this info but new users should read this! Also save your history.txt file to VDJ knows the order the tracks you were playing and suggestion box will work (if exist in V4) like before.

VirtualDJ 4 install will keep all those files, and not over-write them ;)

But its better to be safe, than sorry.. hehe... so a backup doesn't hurt... ;)

@moramax: there's been a bug in the betas, but the final version of virtualdj 4 will install flawlessly, without erasing anything coming from 3.x, don't worry.

Hey guys

Given that the current recommended pc specs for vdj 3.4 are:

PIV 3 GhZ computer
1024x768 SVGA video (nvidia card strongly recomended)
4.1 DirectX compatible soundcard (with front and rear separate outputs)
1024 MB RAM
200 MB free on the hard-drive

Is this going to change with VDJ 4? I.E. does version 4 need alot more to run with or anything? My current machine uses:

Sempron 2800
1.5 gb ram
Nvidia Geforce 5200 AGP
160 gig hard drive
On board 5.1 sound

This is great for spinning, but I find that if and when I use videos (which in fairness i don't do very often), they tend to 'stick' or jerk around a bit. This is one of the reasons I'm only using 3.1.

Is version 4 gonna need more pc resources to run successfully?

Cheers...and keep spinnin...:o)

P

@Pionara, If you use v4 the same way as 3.4, it will need about the same resources from your pc. Some new features need more, but you're not forced to use them.
I hope you like this answer.
More when released..

I know that v. 4 will consume less cpu resources.

@Pionara

biggest thing holding your system back is the video card, you can still get a 6600gt in agp version.

On a more serious note: Please use your speakers cautiously, although VDJ 4 features an amazing new sound-engine it's not to say that you should push your amp and speakers anymore than usual, although it's seriously tempting ;).

Lots of "spoilers" has been leaked out at the time. Please, let us mortal ones wait til' it is released and discover some of the new stuff for our selves?

Good idea, that remembers me when it was seated in Times Square since 6:30 am waiting for the arrival of 2000, but this waiting is even more exciting..

What do you guys have against "spoilers"? I want to know what I'm getting so I can get up to speed with It as quickly as possible. Personally I'd thing that it cant hurt to drop us some more details about the upcoming release, but if thats not what the team wants to do I have to respect that. Just not understand it.

I think that this time we had many more testers who used the program in every way possible from scratch to video to overall sound.
So the testing was probably much better and complete.

However, like anything when it gets into the hands of the masses with every concievable piece of hardware, things can happen.

After 42 betas, you can imagine how much work went into it.

It is very stable and cpu resourcefull on my systems.
