Sujet: Not reading zip files for karaoke

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I cannot read a karaoke zip file after I have unzipped it and rezipped it.

I have some zip files that play fine. e.g., they show up as karaoke files(the karaoke codex is added for zip) . However, I unzip a lot of my files for use as bin files, then I rezip them back up from bin to zip.
but these ""rezipped" zip files won't load. They show an error on the deck when trying to load.

This only happens to the zip files when i unzip and then rezip them.
I've tried rezipping with both mp3toolz and winrar.

For karaoke files you have to understand the following -

All files must be named the same - the mp3, the cdg.
If you ZIP them then the the zip must have the same name as well.

The obvious is only the extensions are different, everything else the same.

I think you misunderstood me. The zip files play properly at first.

It is when I unzip them, then rezip them. During these two processes there are no name changes or any such adjustments.

They simply don't play after the second "rezip".

If you are unzipping to Bin files then there lies your problem. You must unzip to Audio + Graphics(mp3+G, WMA+G,...) then rezip the same. If you are zipping up bin files it will not work

I think I understand partyman, however, I use the bin files for other purposes. So are you saying if i convert bin to mp3+g, then zip the mp3 + g to zip, then it should work, yes?

Mpg3 toolz ,,, "convert Zip to bin",,, "convert bin to zip" all the time without a problem

Have you try opening the files with PCDJ??

Paulette..Are you saying that you take these zip files and First convert them from Zip to Bin,
Then convert them back from bin back to zip..Then take those rezipped bin files and put them in VDJ and they load and read perfectly without error from VDJ.

The problem is with VDJ having trouble being able to load these karaoke zipped files after they were "Re-Zipped" from the bin files. What is weird is that the zip files play perfectly before they are converted to bin and back to zip??

Please respond againg paulette and confirm this is what's going on and let me know what settings you might be using in VDJ and mp3toolz. I need to compare?

I don't have PCDJ. However, I 've tried different encoders and different kps settings on mp3toolz from lame to blade and from 128 to 192. Tried different compression level settings too. Still can't get the newly rezipped files to load. Mp3toolz has got to be doing something on the zip file that second time around that VDJ doesn't like. I've also checked the newly rezipped "bin to zip" files properties and it shows both an mp3 and cdg file of exactly the same name as it had the first time around.

Can someone try to duplicate this error and work on it.

This happens with three different fairly high-end computers and v3.4 as well as 4.2r1.

Sorry for the confusion… I have a friend that had 15,000 mp3+g ‘s and only half worked with VDJ.. But they worked fine with PCDJ…. I always check for bad mp3+g’s file by unzipping and re-zip them… If there’s an error they won’t zip up….

I believe he tried this with no avail..

What's really weird is that they work the first time around in VDJ (all of them, all the time). Then
when I unzip and rezip with Mp3toolz something happens and VDJ No :onger Sees them (they won't load)!

How 'bout skyfxl, can you think of something?

VDJ doesn’t see them.. that’s different…

Settings - “Codecs” - Add --- Type in “Extension:” zip - And “Decoder:” pull down ,, KaraokeCDG/ZIP decoder ---- Scan drives.. They should work…

I ran into this same problem back about a year ago when trying MP..tools, they didn't work in VDJ, NOW try to zip them up together just using windows "Add to Zip" I bet they will play. I went through 20,000 songs and did them one by one and have had no problems with the files. YES it is a lot of time, but you will only have to do them once. Anybody else with a suggestion please chime in as I don't want to make someone do more work then they have to. TRY one that hasn't worked, unzip it then re-zip it doing what I suggested above and let me know.

Just to clear things up a little, I have 130,000 karaoke mp3+g`s zipped. Some work in virtual dj and some throw up an error on the deck they are dragged to. These files that dont work will play without problems on Clubdj Pro, Sax `n Dotty, and even swift elite, therefor logic would tell you that there is a bug in the zip decoder in virtual dj which needs addressing. Maybe the zipped files that dont work have not been done with winzip, and thats where the incompatibility lies in that the zip decoder in vdj has a problems with zips done otherwise. Maybe the answer to this problem would be to introduce an option in the extention menu to use the cdg encoder in winamp instead. :)

Yes, I agree, VDJ team needs to respond to a lot of these bugs, instead they have their little pinions try to relax us with pre-generated quotes such as "have you done this or have you checked off that", In other forums I have dealt with , which are many, the programmers honor the requests and get right on it. It is time for the VDJ programmers, whoever they are , to do the same thing. The time for "pacification" is over, let's get to work.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE BOYS!

paullette,
I didn't scan drives the first time around when the zips work. What does the scan drives do to make the zips work after unzipping and rezipping.

I just don't want to go through a complete scan drive and have my whole C drive in the database. My database is limited to a specific set of folders in an ext. HD.
