I running 4.2 on my laptop, IOntel P4 w/ Hyperthreading, 3.0ghz with 1 gig of ram, ATI Mobility radeon 9700 video card. When i use hardware acceleration, the video in the window has distortion about every 4 secs, if i turn hardware accelartion off, the videos take longer to load and the video that is currently playing freezes for 1/2 a second. I would like to use the hardware acceleration because it helps with the video loading and keeps the cpu low but i need to find out how to get rid of the video distortion. Please help.....thanks

Don't think your video card is up to par. I could be wrong, but these are the classic symptoms of "Shared Video Memory".

Try Upgrading to Vista
I had problems just like what yours.
I coulden't even use it for video
and vista fixed it.
