When you are playing a song that does not have video is there a way to play an "ambient video clip" at the same time? I know you can play a slideshow of still pictures but what about background video? If this features exists and I just missed it, please someone tell me how to activate it. If it doesn't exist is it something that could be looked at as a plug-in or included in the next update?

Currently, no, but the idea of a "video sampler" has been brougt up before, and it would be freakin cool!

I know that this may take extra eqp but maybe with a video switch and a cheap dvd player... split signal
this what I used to do before software.

There are lots of cool plugin for winamp, VDJ needs to be able to interface these plugins and we would have a whole lot to choose from vs making .vobs

Go to the download section of this site, plug ins, video effects, and download the sonigue plug ins. You can activate in config>video>options and check use this plugin for audio-only files and select sonigue. You can also change the rate that they "slideshow", they go to the beat, and you can even put text over it, and use some video effects with them.

How sick would that be to use winamp plug ins (Namely my favorite of all time "Geiss") for when you put on a mp3...

"A Man And His Music"...........I currently use sonigue for that, what I am talking about is instead of playing "visualizers" if it would play video clips (like action scenes from movies, sports highlights, etc.) instead of the same old visualizers over and over.

I get you. I also use Shadow Dancing dvds, as well as the DVJ Club Visuals in my club. Why not record some of your video clips, and see if they will run in VDJ.

Here's an idea I have had in the past, but haven't pursued much yet. There is a tool called "AviSynth" which allows you to take any visual file and any audio file and associate them as a single file. When you 'open' an avisynth script, you are given the audio and video combined as if it were a media file. I haen't tried opening one with VDJ yet, but if it works as intended, then you could have a script for each of your mp3's associating each with a different video clip, a list of clips, or even all associated with the same clip. Alternatively, you could have a tool that dynamically creates the script based on what song and clip(s) you want to play together.
If anyone has tried this or has the time to try it, let us all know your results.

Thats what he means, he has them in file format for VDJ, but is unable to play them, as there is no plugin for background Video playback while MP3 is playing, ie a plugin. I don't think he wants to play them in the main decks, just have them appear when a MP3 is played.

You can't just put them in the plug in folder? Can't you put them in the sonique folder? I don't really know shit, but it's a thought.

I've never tried that, but i'm pretty sure somebody would have mentioned it on the forums if it was possible! :)
I guess that AVI synth would be the best bet. I might look into it, i'd really like that functionality.

Have you tried using the clip bank plug-in? You simply select a blank box, right click, and browse to the file you want in that block. Then, use it the same way as the other effects. I've been using it with timecodes and audio-only files while doing video shows. Works great!

This post was from 2007; there was no need to bump it back up... :)
