Hey there everyone,
Although ESI/Audiotrak stopped producing the U46DJ (or whatever it was called) it looks like there is a similar interface available from Mix Vibes for $199 US:
http://www.djzone.net/pg/news/mp3dj/namm-2007-mixvibes-u46mk2.shtml
Anyone tried this yet?
It's USB 2.0 which is good, possibly an alternative to the Maya 44 USB.
Any how, holler back if you have any info or just want to chime in on this one.
Cheers!
-Alex

Arrrghhh!!!
I should have searched the forum first!
It looks like the damn MixVibes U46MK2 is the ESI U46DJ with a different logo!
From elsewhere on the forum:
"Dont be suprised. vdj dont need promotiion from any hardware manufacturer like other dj softwares. Their softwares sucks and they sell them with hardware together to increase sellings. Like mixvibes with esi u46 mk2 with mixvibes logo on it. "

Oh well, maybe the tried and true Maya 44 (now in USB 2.0) is the way to go after all...

Strike three, I'm out.
I contacted ESI tech support asking if the Maya 44 is USB 1.1 or 2.0.
The Maya 44 is still USB 1.1:
----------------------------------
"Dear Alex
Maya 44 USB is a USB 1.1 device
For further information regarding Maya 44 USB please contact your local distributor for your area...
Regards
UK Support "
-----------------------------------
I give up. I'll spring a little extra cash for a Presonus Firebox to use as my VDJ audio interface with my laptop/1210s. At least it is 6 in/10 out and a firewire device. Also, the weak point of the Firebox are the mic pres, which doesn't really matter if the device's primary input function is to read timecoded vinyl signals, right?
More surfing...
