hey i too have that problem since few mths ago n now totally give up..n aniwae i use herc as soundcard only...I have my prelisten via external mixer n if u using one, its betta to use from ur mixer headphone input:)..

This problem i also not so sure.. already in contact with herc.. check the firmware , drivers.. all correct.. They also not sure n said they will look to it n will reply to me again.. but till now no responed.

First of all try to check if u have ur level all way up in ur herc panel.. ?? Lower it.. does it cure ur problem:)

The only thing I've found that causes distortion in headphones (and only the headphones) is the gain setting on the track. Try turning down the gain and hopefully you'll see what I mean. I am talking about the gain control on the skin itself, of course, not the sliders on the Herc :)

I also have the same problem with the hercules mk2 and i think im gonna be returning this product. I get distortion out of the headphones and the outputs and it only occurs when u load up virtual dj. Everybody seems to have a suggestion on how to solve this problem but amazing enough when u call hercules the tech support people have no clue about this issue but many people in different forums have suggestions or have heard or ran into problems like this that we are having. I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 with duo processor 1.76 Ghz 1 GB of RAM. I triend the same setup on my girls laptop an older version of Inspiron and worked fine. So i diont know what is the problem with my laptop. Many people say is the irq setting but i tried messing around with it by uninstalling every component that could be making problems but it doesnt help. I also have reformatted and reinstall everything that is needed only.

Ok, so I just experienced the same issue. Here's the fix:
Call Hercules Tech Support:
http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=contact (US# 1.866.889.5036) Mon- Fri: 09:00-19:00 Eastern Time
I told them I uninstalled/reinstalled all software and drivers. (I did) I also tried both the top and front ports (both don't work). Told them plugging my headphones into just my laptop the sound is fine (it was). Tried 2 different sets of headphones (I did). They asked if I tried another computer, I said I had tried that but same results ( I didn't)?
Now they will have you plug your headphones into ports 3 or 4 on the back of your mixer, the sound will actually work BUT you lose control of the volume and monitor fade knobs.
So what happened to your mixer.......the channel that the top and front ports run on is damaged. This is there only troubleshooting step for this issue. I was maybe on the phone for 5 minutes. They will give you a reference number and you will have to call Kay Sounds http://kaysounds.com (1.800.343.0353) This is the place that will handle your exchange. You will need the reference number AND your invoice/receipt. They will not exchange your item without it. I purchased mine from Guitar Center, I called them and they faxed it to me...simple. They also will not exchange your item if it is damaged in the shipping (BS....I know right??). Go to Fedex or UPS and pay for the the extra packaging and you will have to pay the shipping as well. Sucks a little bit but better than buying another one. They won't fix yours either, they will send you a brand new one....cool.

happy djn
