I just renamed all my video files, cleared duplicates (everybody knows the routine) and then performed a complete analyze of the entire video library.
19 hours later, when it finished, everything looked wonderful except I got these things in the visual listings and yet there's nothing in them.
Can anybody tell me what they (the forward slashes) are, how to get rid of them, or what fix I need to emplloy? Could they possibly be empty folders? A recognized file name but missing something like a file suffix?

Yep, tried everything. Nothing to indicate what it is or what's causing it.
The only thing it shows is the file name and the title, which is those forward slashes. (Funny, this forum software won't let me post a forward slash. I can do this one " / " but not this one " ". It disappears once I post the message.)
Nothing in file properties, artist, bpm, etc.
Right click and select rename, get "Cannot Read From Source Disc".
Click on Open In Explorer, it goes to Documents And Settings, then the Named Use folder. Nothing there either.
Click on Move To, get "Cannot Read From Source Disc".
It won't go away and I cannot make it go away.
Even deleted the database and started over. Bip. Right back again.

Hi, it is a very rare problem and happened to me too on certain filename and paths.
Probably because you renamed your files you have now this issue. Anyway the good news is that this will be corrected.
Can you please try to rename a folder that contain such a file and see what happens ?
These are real files that are not displayed correctly because of something in the path or filename, so try to locate them using the vdj browser, then go to windows explorer and rename/move a file, then check again with vdj browser and let us know.
You can also upload or send me such a file and the EXACT path so i can test it too. (pm me or use my email on the blog).

Apopsis : Therein lies the problem. There is absolutely no file information to be found. Having "clicked" on everything possible in VDJ and windows explorer, these forward slashes are pure phantoms. I'll try to post some screen shots of these efforts later today. Thanks for your offer and assistance.

ok no info within vdj's fileinfo, same for me when happened, but if these "phantoms" are part of a folder you know they may be real...
Try to browse this folder with 4.3 or with windows explorer.

Found the issue.
In my file/foldering structure, it looked like this:
Main fiolder : _A_
Sub folder : _A (fast)
Sub folder : _A (slow)
Sub folder : Aaliyah
Sub folder : Abba
etc
for each letter of the alphabet.
When I decided to move the contents of _B (fast) and _B (slow) to the _B_ folder and deleted the _B (fast) and _B (slow) subfolders, two of the phantom slashes disappeared. Apparently only some of those sub folders created the phantom slashes but not every one in every case.
Methinks some of those symbol-alpha character sequences impact the programming code VDJ uses to create its lists.
Anyway, those slashes are gone now.
Should anyone experience these, look at your folder names that begin with a symbol/character rather than pure alpha.

Do you rename your files with VirtualDJ or with Windows Explorer?
