I was just wondering if anybody knows how to record the videos when doing the video mixing with virtual dj?

I use a stand alone DVD recorder. Works great for recording using your video output out of the computer (s-video or composite).

i use a camcorder so i don't lose any more quality. any other medium you will lose quality. it just depends what u want ur final video to be on.
as far as software camstudio is good but it only works with xp.

Can someone give a detailed description using FRAPs? I bought the program and got it to record video...although a little sporadically, but have had no luck with Audio recording when I mix videos. I select the same (windows output) that I do when I record just audio but it doesn't record. It seems a little tempermental as well in terms of recording video. I think that I have to start the FRAps program before I open VDJ for it to record after I hit the hotkey to start recording. If anyone has this working perfectly I"d really appreciate a quick walk through. Thanks.

I have been experimenting with fraps & have had it record with pretty good stability using TCV, Numark 5000 DJ mixer, usb external 500gb harddrive, Acer Duo Core laptop(2.0gh with 2gb ram) & Maya 44 usb soundcard, but as soon as I encorporated a usb midi controller (BCD 2000 or Numark Total control), VDJ would start locking up after about 10-15 minutes. To record the audio along with the video I grabbed the audio signal from my equalizer before my amplifier and looped it into the mic input on my pc & set fraps to record from windows.I had to adjust my recording volume and the audio & video recording is crisp. Fraps video recording files are large so you need a lot of hard drive space to record then you can reencode with additional software like Vegas video or something to reduce file size..Does anyone know why the video keeps looking up?? I have even use my HP desktop (Duo core 2.4gh, 3gb ram, nvidia verto 8500 gt 512mb Video card, USB 2.0), with 500 gb external HD, tvc,usb Maya 44 soundcard & the video still seems to lock up when i encorporate the (Numark Total Control) usb midi controller along with the configuration. It happens even when i use the BCD 2000 which has a built in souncard ommiting the USB Maya 44???Any solution would be greatly appreciated... :) You are correct about starting FRAPs first.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I have it set up correctly. I use the booth out from my mixer to go to an external SB 24bit Live soundcard. Still haven't got audio to record. I guess I'll just have to play around some more with it.

Haven't purchased VDJ yet, I'm about to. I was under the impression you could RECORD Video or Audio directly to HD or External HD by hitting the RECORD button.

For Audio the record button in VDJ works but not for Video yet.

djej> The record button works, however if you are using tcv and external mixer, vdj will not record your effects from external source. So if you want a true recording you will want to go with master 2 out or booth out of your mixer to an input on your sound card. Hope this helps.
