Hi all, I have an interview setup for a spot on VDJ radio.

Here's my issue. I use the RANE EMPATH mixer, non MIDI. How can I set up my broadcasting out of my mixer? If you don't know why I want to do this, it is because when i cue up a song the internal crossfader in VDJ stays in the middle, thus broadcasting my cues. But what you hear from the speaker is where i set my crossfader on my EMPATH.

Any insight on this??????

i was thinking of comming out AUX output from my Empath and going into the mic input on my laptop. Could I then broadcast from my mic input???

thanks so much

are you trying to this in VDJ? seeing this mixer don't have midi u may not get it to work,i know one that will let it work the BCD3000 but why don't u use the mic input in the rane ?

What do you mean the mic input on the rane?

Let me clarify again.

I am wanted to broad cast from the outputs of my mixer.

If i hit the broadcast button now, it will broadcast from the internal mixer on VDJ and not the output of the physical mixer.

Okay now I understand - you want to webcast using the output of you're mixer NOT the software.

I do this with my stanton mixer. This is what you do:

Take the rca mains output from your RANE mixer and install a Y-splitter on both sides. This will give you 2 lefts and 2 rights.

Left and Right pair #1- Continue on to what ever you use for speakers/monitors.
Left and Right Pair #2- These go to a soundcard in your computer. Which will be your recording/shoutcast streaming card.

You will need to config your shoutcast settings to record from the "RIGHT/LEFT pair #2"
And it might be easier to use a second soundcard.

My setup is as follows:
Creative Soundblaster; 4.1 mode, external 2 channel mixer(stanton brand)
Motherboard Audiomax soundcard set to default record-in.

I record mixes, practice sessions and do radio broadcasts with this set-up. It takes some time to tweak and work any bugs out of the system. but once it's all set-up you can forget about it.

make sure you broadcast using the LINE IN of your soundcard.

NOT the MIC in. (broadcasting or recording from your mic in will provide awful sound quality)

Ahh I see....

I'll have to do some reading on this... know anywehre I should start looking?

The sound card I have now is the DJiO. It only has input for two devices. (2 red, 2 white)

You may be able to use the onboard soundcard on your pc/laptop (mic input/line input) for recording.

DJ White just said it would sound like pooo if i did... ???
