Sujet: I'm through with U46DJ, please help me find replacement

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I run TCV and have used U46DJ for a while, however, it has been consistently unreliable. Randomly, one of my TCV channels would jump around like crazy, despite changes in carts, and fiddling with sound options, so I was always hesitant to even use my TCV at shows.

Now, one of the switches on it, which switches from Line to Phono has stopped working. It stays on Line, so I can't properly use TCV anymore. Basically, this box o' crap has never worked right for me, but I spent pretty good money on it so I never could admit to myself that it was the evil culprit.

At this point a big part of me wants to just pay $100 and buy a maya44 USB, and pray it works well, because I just spent 2 grand on a Macbook Pro (which I am running bootcamp on). However, after reading other posts, it seems that the overall performance and reliablility of USB and firewire cards is not good.

I guess that I am not totally ruling out dishing out a lot of money for the Emu 1616, or even buying a mixer with soundcard capabilities such as the Evo5. However, I am not the most advanced DJ at this point, so 5 channels (and $1000) seems a bit overkill.

So, with that in mind, would the Maya44 cut it for me or just be the same as my lemon U46DJ? Is it worth paying around $500 for the Emu 1616 if I'm on a tighter budget?

Also, I have been wanting a new mixer for a while now, so I could kill two birds with one stone. However, like I said, the Evo5 may be overkill for me. Is there another mixer with soundcard capabilities that is fairly good and can be used with TCV?

So many of you have helped me already with other things which has been amazing, but sadly, it just seems that no matter what I do, I can never get a purely reliable setup. I am really regretting getting TCV and not controllers. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

Thats too bad sounds like you got a dud. I use the u46 and it runs great, i dont have any issues with it. Did you ever contact ESI? it wouldnt hurt. You should still be able to run TCV on LINE but you have to check off the RIAA option in VDJ, but remember to raise the input levels. The Maya44 should run well for you also if you wanted to explore that option.
