Sujet: Virtual DJ crashes using 2 soundcards

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I'm using vDJ5 rev.6 for some time but only today wanted to do some mix. Before I used one multichannel (5.1) sound card (Creative SB audigy) to use rear out's as Headpohone out! But today in my head was born an idea that I have integrated sound card, too and VDJ allow to use 1 SC as main out and second as Headphones out. So i installed onboard card audio driver and oll looks ok! Opened virtual dj, in preferences put the configuratio (SB Audigy - Main, Integrated Realtek AC97 - Headphones). All works... Started to creat mix and ... Crash The sound stucks... Recovered, but it broked my mix. Tried some times but it crashes all the time! Sometimes after 3 songs, sometimes after 1 but crashes every time... Restarted PC but no effects. HElp please! Maybe anyone had seen this problem!

System specs please?

Try running one card at a time, to see if the crash follows on card around.

How are you setting your sound config up? 4.1 + 1 maybe?

i have a realtek 5.1 card on my kickass alienware laptop... it bites for vdj. in theory you'd think that an integrated chip should work really well... but it doesnt. the architecture is only made for listening and movies, and not for low latency applications. go for an external soundcard that supports asio

Wondering if VDJ uses the same latency for both soundcards, thus the Onboard would hate low latency, while the SB would be happy with it. Perhaps try poping the latency up a notch.

Nop! I have the same problem and raising the latency even to great amounts won't fix the problem ... Also installing the latest ASIO drivers and enabling them in sound setup didn't work ... Virtual DJ just REFUSES to work with 2 sound cards (at least with the 2 I am using AC '97 AUDIO on board and AUDIGY SB like the guy above).
That sucks in my opinion ... OK I bought the Audigy SB to be able to mix "non-blindly" and now I have to actually buy a third usb-sound card to do my job? Ok it might not be so expensive I mean the card cost around 20euros or so ... BUT still it's money... I'm really frustrated about this .... If there is another faster solution I'm willing to hear it!
Thanks in advance

The faster solution is to at least buy gear (your soundcard) that is at least close to a PRO level of gear. A 20euro card will get you 20euros of performance. The same difference between Gemini gear and Denon/Pioneer gear. Gemini is your 20euro gear - and yeah the Denon/Pioneer might be more expensive but you are getting the quality. Buy the MAYA44 USB and you will be good to go.

All will still come back to your budget. What you bought is what you get.
The higher the price the better the quality and the better your software will perform obviously.

Oww by the way, VDJ PRO is only $299 (243.87 €), hope you won't forget it.

But my main problem is not the sound quality ... It's just the facts that I can't mix at all cz the programe crashes! If I could play a song to the speakers and simultaneusly preview the next on my headphones I wouldn't care about the quality at all! But I can't even do that ... that's tha case that cracks my nerves! :)

Hey everyone

I have:

SB XFi Xtream Audio (PCI)
Realtek HD Audio (onboard)
AMD Athlon 2x64 6000+
Gigabyte GA-m57sli-s4 MoBo
GF8800GT 512M

I am having a possibly similar problem, i can mix a few songs then one of 2 things will happen:
1 my main output (SB XFi PCI) will crap out and one of the tracks will be overdriven, sometimes only left or right (not verry friendly to my speakers) if i close VDJ then reopen problem is gone for a little while.
2 crashgard is activated and closes the program, no speaker mashing noise but still just as anoying

these problems usualy ocur when i am adjusting fader/levles/efects but i dont know if that is causing the issue or just a coincidence.

I also have an IBM P4 and using a similar setup this works fine
P42.8
SB Audigy2 & onboard

I will try some difernt configs and get back...

It's a known issue with creative drivers when view have to deal with an onboard sound card.

Sorry to dig this issue, but my 2 cents...
I used to be a Creative Audigy soundcard owner, and after several crashes and troubles, I found a way to work with it and a Soundmax on-board soundcard, both in the same system with Windows XP SP3.
Just install ONLY THE DRIVERS of your soundcards, dont install players, managers and every other software. Simply put your installation CD, dont run it, and run the windows hardware manager to install the soundcards, dont forget to set the checkbox to only install drivers.
You will configure both soundcards by Windows sound devices manager, just choose the default device before manage it.
Creative soundcards are provided with a dozen of crap softwares, and I believe this was the cause.
After this, I never had problems with VirtualDJ and my 2 cards anymore.
