I'm looking to record my live music video sets and create demo flicks. I wanted to see what others were using and how much they liked it.
As far as equipment I use: 2 Turntables (Tech's), DJM 800 Mixer, the Virtual Vinyl Soundcard, Macbook Pro (17", 2.33 ghz, 3 gb ram, ATI X1600 w 256 graphics). I run Virtual Vinyl (VDJ) in Windows XP, via Bootcamp. It is the only program I use in Windows. Ideally I would like to find capture software/hardware that could work on both the Mac and the Windows platforms.
Anyone recommend anything that can record both audio and video at the same time? Hardware? Software? I don't want to put any stress on my computer if I don't have to.

I was using fraps for recording live video sets but the software splits the video ssession after 1gb recording, haven't tried the new version perhaps it has been corriged, on the other hand currently I use an external dvd recorder with a dedicated hard disk (80gb) is a phillips device and it works fine cause you can choose the time and quality of your video sessions (sp,lp,ep)

You do need a second computer to run the recorder and just use the output of your laptop to plug into the capture card. any USB2.0 computer should be able to manage, it's not that intensive.
Quality is great and then you can watch tv with it too! haha
here are some examples of things i recorded with it:

...obviously it's youtube, but trust- it's good quality.
