Sujet: Led on my USB cable turn off

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hiho everybody

I bought an USB cable with a nice blue led inside the connectors to connect my laptop to my Dj console MKII. My problem is that as soon as I start VDJ pro, the led turn off :-(

I supposed it is a function made inside the software or maybe in the driver because my USB port is far to be out of power. I already tried to connect an USB hard disk and some different material and I have no problems. Only VDJ seems to turn off the leds (who really use near nothing in power).

My question is. Can I change this ? can I modify a registry key or something because I want it on when I'm Djing.

Maybe someone on the team can tell me if it is or not included in the software code who turn off automatically my leds.

Thanks in advance

The mk2 demands alot of power from your machine and alot of bandwith its not advisable to use fancy cables with it as it might lead to hardware instability.

Thanks skyfxl but I already know this.

A led consume around 2mA, so this is nothing compared to the power needed by the MKII. The light shut down directely when the soft load.

I have try to connect on the same USB bloc (power shared with the MKII) an USB ventilator (motor + 2 leds) who take a lot more power than a miserable led. The result is that nothing append, my MKII run perfectely. This test proove that it is nothing to do with a low power result.

So maybe someone from the team can tell me why ? if it is a software parameter or not and if I can change it to let my blue led on.

Thanks

I don’t think that. USB are 4 wire cable (a couple for data (+ and - ) and another couple for 5 volts (+ and - ). Some machines have a 5 wire that is only ground. The leds don't touch the data wires, only the Voltage wires and they can not be altered by a parameter.

Ok, but what make's the led turn off ? If I add it on an hdd, they stay on...

VDJ does not like blue leds.

red or white would work better, huh. Why does it have to be a color light thing with you?

We all know...AMaHM is prejudice against blue.....its a long story. He was once attacked by Papa Smurf, AMaHM went postal on the little blue guy. The authorities were called in. Short version is Papa Smurf can take a punch.

HAHAHAHA @ A Man and His Music....good one.

As Skyfxl said, probably the mk2 console requires a "lot" more power than a HDD (even more that the ones that does have an external power supply) and there’s a voltage drop that makes you leds turn off.

I have a laptop HDD in an external case that doesn’t require an external power supply. One tip of the USB cable has two USB connectors, one is a full normal 4 wire connector and the other one is only two wire usb connector, just to suck more power from the USB cables. Why? Because there are some machines that have very low current output in their USB ports, such as some Toshiba's Laptops and some Compaq's laptops, and will not power up enough to feed the HDD. Maybe this is your case. Why still want to use a lighted cable? Even a 2mA consumption can be the cause to freeze in a gig, or an overheat, or more risk of a short cable, and many more ridiculous causes that can be avoided with a normal usb cable.

Da Ba Dee...LOL

Hey Terry... I heard the story formed when AMAHM first started his stripper club work and was wet behind the ears. Meaning he didn't have any rap to get the girls to talk to him. After weeks of seeing all those bodies around him he got, lets say " blue".

It's just what I heard so I don't know if it's true or not.

University Of Michigan fan Fat.....what can I say

Also isn't it ironic...its the Smurfs are celebrating turning 50 this week...

It's ironic that you would know that!

Read it on my Yahoo home page...lol

Why I want a blue led ? because it rock's hahahahaha...

To be serious, a friend of me who use a MKII on a Macbook (with traktor) can let the leds turned on so why not with Virtual Dj ?

Ok, I have to write it again

USB connector are in couple sharing the power together right ? To make a test, I connect my MKII on the USB connector and on the second who share the same power, I put an external hdd. Result of the test: all is running fine exept the led who turn off !

An hdd use a lot more power than a led so no reason that my led turn off if have only my MKII connected on a single USB port

Sorry guys to ask again but I would like a good explaination

1) Use your "lighted" usb cable and your Mk2 on another computer..... Maybe your usb ports of your laptop donest have enoght current output to feed the led and the console

2) or ry using a powered usb hub to connect: Laptop-powered hub-led cable-console

3) Defective cable?
