Sujet: Replacement drive

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Just got a replacement drive for one that went bad.
It's a Seagate Freeagent.
On the new one it has a bunch of stuff on it. Such as Installation software,
Drive manage, launch etc. This was no on the other one.
Now if I put my music files on this dive all the other crap will show up in VDJ.
Just trying to see if anyone knows if I can just delete all this extra stuff on the drive
so that just my music files only are on it, or if this is not recommended.
Would contact Seagate but they are not in until Monday.

You shouldn't need any of that its just included for your connivence and for options such as putting a password on , the drive will be plug and play so you dont need to install any thing.

If you think it may be useful to you to have those programs at some point they are probably on a cd with the drive or you could just back them up elsewhere.

Thanks, I didn't think they were necessary, but wanted to
check anyway.

better safe than sorry :)

i bought a mybook a few months a for and it was formated to fat 32 so keep a look on that i just reformated it to ntfs and its all good

I agree...I would just backup the junk that's on it just in case you ever want it, then format it and load it up with your music ;)

I sure hope it holds up better than the old one :)
