If your talking stand alone the Dennon or the Pioneer..if you want it to interface with VDJ either the iCDX or the Pioneer. but the Pioneer needs TCCDs and an ASIO soundcard and the iCDX doesn't and you would only need one...clear? clear as mudd?

They will be interfacing with VDJ. I already have an ASIO sound card, i'm just a lil iffy of the iCDX's platter. I don't like the idea of having to push down to activate the platter.

Don't leave out the new denon s5500 ..its Two Players In One!! i want two of em my self

I have 2 dennon 3500's and they work great, expecially with tccd. I am also going to agree with the new denon s5500. You can buy one of these and it will act as 2. Just flip the switch and you have control of deck 2. This also has built in ASIO sound card. So its worth the money. Also its fully MIDI mapable which is great to use with Virtual DJ

dont get the icdx, i loved mine for a year, but i got a gemini cdt-05
scratching is now what i love and with the huge platter and TCCD (not records) i love it
the icdx for me is now only for instrumentals... and i paid 500 for icdx and 350 for gemini cdt-05
this gemini has broken all the bad things ive heard of gemini (tho i would not buy a diff. gemini product lol)

when it comes to CD players, Pioneers rule. Denons have alot of features but they are only good if you are dj ying with cds only. The scratching isnt all that either. The 5500 is a little better than the 3500s. The pioneer CDJ 400 is better and cheaper than the new denon. They scratch alot better too. I have the pioneer CDJ 1000mk3 and i have it hooked up with time codes and it is on point.

Well everybody has there opinion. Mine is the 3500, I think the response is better than the 400's of the 800's and if you have problems with your PC you can pop in a mp3 CD and keep playing.

There seems to be alot of talk about what cd players are better, and really it all comes down to what you are more comfortable with. Pioneer has been the industry standard for clubs and dj professionals for some time now and have alway had rock solid products, although they can be a little dear.
I actually have both the Pioneer cdj1000's and the numark icdx, for use with Virtual i prefer the Numark icdx yes the jog wheel takes a little getting use to but all new players do. and on the other hand i would never part with my Pioneers either.
Hope this helps & good luck with your dicission.

What about Numark CDX - I love mine and since I've been using VDJ and are no longer swaping cds in and out I dont have the stupid problems with the cd player that they suffer from. I'd still carry a spare cd player with tray though ($105 US and about 30secs to swap when it shits itself - notice I say when not if ;)

Pioneer is the best. I went to a local dj store " I DJ Now " and the salesmen told me that many people return denon single cd players " 3500 ". The motor and some of the functions give problerms. I used denon before and i find pioneer to be a better brand. Pioneer is club standard and its rare for them to give problems. If you want to get a good cd player with usb and midi. get the CDJ 400. Go to the DJ store and check it out for yourself. Bring a cd and use it, ask the salesmen about which is better and he will tell you.

ok, i have had everything that is out there .. I set up clubs for a living and have uses everything from reel to reel , to dac. I had the dennon 1000= 2500- 5000- 9000., then cdjs 100 all to the newest.. even tried the gemini... vextax. goldsteel... dvj 400, 1000
since im using virt dj it really doesnt matter.. i have time code vinal.. the only draw back is i wear out the first few seconds of the record all the time... if you use the cdj 100 with the remote cable hooked up you only need to raise the cross fader and it will start the song and load the next song .. its almost moron proof, except for the managers that think they are dj's...

The Denon 3500s look a little nicer but that doesnt mean its better than the cdj 1000s. The 3500s have more features than the CDJs but those features only work when you are dj ying with cds only. Its useless with time codes. The scratching on the 3500s are not accurate. You need to do more movement with your hands to get a decent scratch sound. The cdjs 1000 have a tighter scratch than a technics 1200 and responds very fast to all the functions.
