dn2000f mk2?
Hmmm... I think all the troubles just might come down to that man, sorry.
Those arent the top cd players for timecode use, and could you just do a wild guess test...
- Put a REAL CD in that player, hit play, and you get a glitch right ? Exactly same "problems" as with timecode right?
My best bet, is that all this comes down to your cd players....
To make it work best possible, you at least need to use CD MODE in timecode settings in VDJ. But not sure even that would be perfect.

nope no glitch when i play regular cd's
is there any alternate test i could do to prove that it my cd players ?
i'd like to buy time code vinyls but would be upset if they did the same.

Problem with those CD players, is that it takes a fraction of a second before it sends any signal (at least my experience with some rackmount cd players). But that should produce the same result with a real cd, or some sort of artifact (like a spinn up.. )
But if REAL CDs are dead on target, when pressing play, my guess might not be valid.
What if you could borrow some CDJ 800s to test? See if that works, if so, your system will also work perfect with timecode vinyls.
Alternatively, if timecode is too much hazzle (and it can be at times), there are perfect CD players that control VDJ without any timecode at all...
- Numark iCDX
- Pioneer CDJ 400

i have a dac 2 i could use,the problem is i can not scratch with them

True...
Timecode technology is first of all for just that, scratch djs.. So its really made for turntables (vinyls) and CD players such as Pioneer CDJs.
I've yet to hear rackmounts working great with timecode, sorry about that. Its just the way they operate.
But there are a whole arsenal of controllers, cd players and so on that does work. So maybe part of going digital, would also mean that the old rackmount CD player would go to backup, or even away.
For scratching, one can even just get a midi controller, such as Vestax VCI-100 (pro scratching), Hercules RMX (basic scratching) etc.
A rackmount controller, much like you have, that will control VDJ directly without timecode AND have great scraching jogs, is the DENON DN-HC4500 .. Maybe thats the perfect tool for you, as its familiar to what you got.
Numark also have a few great ones...
If you are real serious and hardcore about scratching, turntables would be best though

i don't understand why the dac 2 won't scratch
Posté Sat 22 Mar 08 @ 2:32 pm
Dac 2 is way old, and the motor/platter is not made for scraching. By design, from Numark/PCDJ.
Numark have upgraded their rackmounts to scratch now, and Denon too. Specially Denon, the new one is awesome.
If you look at the PCDJ homepage (makers of the DAC's), you'll see that they have dropped the Dac's, and now offer the Denon one.

One think you should consider though, is the actuall scraching itself.
Why do you want it? are you a hiphop dj? scratching is your style?
Reason I ask, is that I too looked for scratching things at first. Now I'm a working club dj for years, and I never scratch :) I beatmix music.
But if you do want to scratch, rackmounts arent what you need... you need a table top, either a Vestax VCI-100/VCI-300, or a CD player such as CDJ 400 (no need for timecode) or CDJ 800 (needs timecode), or a vinyl turntable (timecode)
Alternatively, if you do want rackmount, the Denon one is it.

i am a turntable dj by trade so i like the fact that you can control the position of a song with your hands perfectly and not really scratch all the time but have the option if i feel the need.
i have technics sl 1200 mk2. If you think these could work perfectly, then i will buy vinyls and my problem is solved.I don't just wanna buy them just for a test.
The reason i bought a dac 2 was to use pcdj vrm. What a flop VRM products were.If i knew better, than i would have bought a newmark total control. The Dac 2 is great but what a mistake it was to buy them to use the VRM products. The VRM products are a dj's worst nightnare. The do not beat sync properly and produce pops and clicks when moving the pitch slider up and down(software or contoller).

ait, if you have 1200's you're defo a "scratch" dj! ;) hehe
Well, your local dj store should have Numark Virtual Vinyl replacement vinyls, that are the same as VDJ timecode.
They arent expensive at all. Buy one and test...
Pretty sure you'll love it ;)
And if all is cool, the Numark Virtual Vinyl package is a good deal.
- Two vinyls
- Great soundcard
- Software (same as VDJ)
