Sujet: Rockin' my HC4500 and VCI-100 on my new PC!!!

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Okay - I felt compelled to post this since I am having myself a good time tonight. I have been waiting for reflex for what seems like years - purchased a whole new Denon set up back in - wait, could it have been last year -- and well, have been continuing to use my worthless Macbook Pro with Traktor. I LOVE my Macbook Pro, it's my third one and I have DJ'ed for many years using that and Traktor. But I am bored with Traktor and I really wanted to use something new with some new features more geared towards my DJ style. So, I have been sitting around with my Mac, just waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting.

I finally said - screw it. I needed to buy a new notebook for a back-up since wedding season is fast approaching. Originally was going to get a ne Macbook Pro. BUT -- hold the presses, I decided to get a PC. I researched it and researched it, since I am going to be doing some video too, and need 2 computers (primary and back-up) that can handle that. I found myself an AWESOME computer on newegg with two to three times as many features as the Macbook Pro I was going to buy at HALF the price.

And....now I am rockin' out using both my HC4500 and my Vestax VCI-100 with Virtual DJ on the PC. I have a nice skin that works okay with my 1680 x 1050 screen, and things are just AWESOME! I was playing around with the HC4500 natively, that was like a treat, except I couldn't get my X Fader controls to work, no big deal. Just using the thing - which has a bunch of dust on it from sitting around for almost a year - was awesome!

I love my Mac's - I am a strong apple supporter, as I am confident in their OS and the strength and quality of the systems that they put out. But, this $1500 computer that I purchased - along with VDJ and these Midi-controllers is out of this world. I know that things are getting so much better with programs being cross platform - and now with the dual boot on the Mac, but still, I wish they were equal. They aren't, and that's a shame. Things are so not the same - that I gave in and purchased a PC. I could have never predicted this happening.

I haven't played around with Video yet - but if anyone is looking for a new computer, check out the new Asus models at newegg.com. I purchased a 2.5 ghz dual core penryn chip, 4 gb's of RAM (only a 32 bit vista sysem though, so doesn't see the whole 4gb), internal hard drive of 500 gbs at 54000 speed (my audio files are cruisin' along, no issues even though it's not a 7200rpm), ATI 3650 graphics card with a full 1gb of dedicated memory....and the list goes on. Those are the big highlights though - all for $1500. I think that the price is back up to $1600 now (I purchased it with an instant discount offer they had). This thing is outrageous - and half of what it would have cost to purchase the Macbook Pro, or the Alienware's that I was looking at. Oh, and even less than the custom Sager I had thought about.

ok, this is a long post, but I am just totaly excited about this. I Have used Traktor for 7 years or so now - a LONG Time. Since it came out for the mac.....and now finally using something new is awesome. If I am this excited right now - I can't even imagine what life will be like once I start using video!!!

I should add that I am still totally dissppointed with AUTO MIX in VDJ. Definitely doesn't work correctly, and it's too bad, it should. If I set cue points for entry and exit, it should work, and you know what - it doesn't work right!!! Get that fixed....but until then, I am still using the Mac and Megaseg, which I have found to be perfect for my automix duties for cocktail and dinner hours.

I am going to sell my VCI-100 to get something with a sound card built in - probably a Hercules DJ RMX Console once they are available in the US. I also have my eye on the Numark NS7, but not sure when that will be out. I can only imagine that these controllers will also ROCK on my PC, natively, with V DJ. And....I am still keeping my trusty Macbook Pro 2.16ghz Macbook Pro. It's not that old - and it runs Traktor like a pro.....and stability is king. But, knock on wood, I have been testing the crap out of VDJ with these controllers and it's hanging strong. I am thinking that I might take it live Friday with the PC and the VCI-100. Seems solid - but I will keep testing it to make sure.

Rock on peeps!!! Maybe Reflex will come out this month....and then I have to really consider if it's worth it to spend the $300 on it, since I purchased V DJ and I am loving it!!! I think that PCDJ lost me!!!

Congrats on your new purchase and journey into the PC world. a couple of suggestions.. keep up to date with drivers and updates from MS and you should be alright. the other thing is, read the vista optimization guides on audioforums.com and here http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2238

It's because the post's have been made to a higher level, prob mod's or teamers having laugh.

the devious bass turds

Well did we go live with that rig?? I was curious how things worked out if you did.

I really doubt "the lonely child" will be released anytime soon, i could be wrong but given the lenght of development already it's not worth waiting around for it.

AHh, I was too nervous about going live. Used my Mac powerbook, traktor, saffire LE, and my VCI-100.

There's too much at stake playing in the clubs, meaning my reputation as a DJ. I wanted to push VDJ and my midi-controllers to the limit, as well as get accustomed to VDJ.

I also need to find the best skin that works for me. I have a 1680 x 1050 screen and I am really suprised that there isn't a Cue or VDJ skin put out that fits that size. I like the Cue skin, but I wish I could get a skin that would utilize my whole screen.
