Simply question.
What mixer will allow me to hook up my time codes and will control both audio and the internal mixer for video?
I have to use my dx626 mixer & total control and i find it cluttered and kinda confusing as i cant cue with my headphones when using both.
will any USB mixer work with vdj internal mixer?

you need a midi mixer.
pioneer
allen and heath
and others make a midi mixer.
If you have the full legal pro version you can get mappers for these mixers

Is there anyway to do it with the total control and my 3 channel?
There has got to be a way right?

Alright,
I need someone to answer this specifically.
1.) CAN I MIX AUDIO & VIDEO TOGETHER WITH MY "JUST" my 3 CHANNEL MIXER AND TIMECODES AND STILL CUE VIA HEADPHONES?
2.) OR, CAN I MIX AUDIO & VIDEO TOGETHER WITH JUST MY NUMARK TOTAL CONTROL MIDI and TIMECODES AND CUE VIA HEADPHONES?
I really need someone to answear this IN DETAIL so i can figure out what i need to do. I can only mix audio with my 3 channel mixer WHEN USING MY TIMECODES or I CAN mix audio and video with my total control midi "passing with my 3 channel"BUT cannot Cue via headphones because the internal crossfader is no longer set in the middle.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO MIX AUDIO AND VIDEO TOGETHER WITH WHAT I HAVE AND SILL ABLE TO CUE!

Yes, connect one set of RCA outputs too channel one or your mixer. And one set too channel two of your mixer. After that it is almost identical to "old school" mixing. That includes video and audio.

Ok,
could you explain a little more in detail i'm confused? right now my mixer is used like the following.
channel 2 goes to "OUT 1 on soundcard"
chaneel 3 goes to "OUT 2 on souncard"
Turntable 1 goes to "INPUT 1"
Turntable 2 Goes to "INPUT 2"
Channel 1 "EXTRA CHANNEL" goes to "OUT 3 and controls volume on "SAMPLES"
Huh? How would this crossfade video within the software?

Open VV, click config, video, enable, linked cross faders. That should do it....

Sorry NO DICE.
went into config "link crossfaders" under the video tab was already checked? :(
Still only switches AUDIO. Video does NOT cross fade with it TOGETHER as 1.
any other ideas?
Version 5 rev7

To crossfade the video at the same time as the audio you require a midi mixer.
A regular mixer will not control the Mixer functions of virtualDJ/vinyl.
I have my crossfaders set up like so:
I use and external mixer both for my mobile setup and at the Strip club (I'm the guy doing videos there)
okay mixer setup - just like normal: channel 1. 2 etc.....
I can cue through the head phones with my regular old mixer (numark c200 at the club, Vestax dsm360 for mobile)
In video options, I have the faders UNLINKED
In audio Options I have the crossfader DISABLED(cause I have one on my mixers)
When mixing a video I beatmix and bring in the new song normally, then once the audience has identified a transition, I use my mouse and click on the NEW VIDEO preview window. This activates an automatic transition (it can be set as to length in options) The transition follows the preset I have and I follow along with my crossfader so that both audio and video match up.
It takes practice.
If you want the video to follow your crossfader while scratching - which right now looks kind of awful because VDJ doesn;t react fast enough with some very rapid crossfader movements, You will require a MIDI mixing console

Thanks for the fine print Marcel much appreciated. It's been bugging me on figuring it out.
What i don't understand is why its NOT Common to have a MIDI external mixer? especially made to go with a VJ turntable setup.
I can use my total control with DJ/IO and have audio and video work together and it works great. But then i can't use my turntables?
Why this isnt a little bit more simplified i don't know,Why numark dosent have a midi mixer yet i don't know either, But i guess ill have to grab a midi mixer.
My total control isn't so much in control of the situation lol dam thing should have been a regular/Midi mixer. to accommodate for my situation.

Look into the Hercules RMX
it's a midi mixer/controller for VDJ. It also has a ASIO soundcard built into it for turntables.
most who have it already say it's good, there are some quirks being ironed out cause it's a new product. But after that it should be good to go.

Yes, as with the same opinion as marcel, herc rmx is one of the midi mixer to be looked at or simply u can try to find a used herc mk2.

Hmm...Marcel thanks for the lead in the right direction.
What I'll do is sell my total control towards the purchase of a RMX.
Thanks again!

If you are using an external mixer dissable the crossfader in config > options you will need to take the record output into the line in of your computer then on recording choose line in as the input.
