I'm thinking of finaly upgrading my Sony Vaio RAM (512mb) to 2 GB with this http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=194797&c=1
I've never replaced any RAM sticks before but from what I've read it sounds pretty easy. Is there anything else I need to know about specs or compatibility? Also, the Vaio has a ATI Radeon 9200 video card, would the extra ram with this card be enough for videos and/ or karaoke if I decided to make that jump?;^]

Try this Timmy http://www.crucial.com/ it scans your PC, tell you what kind of memory you need, gives you options, and even includes a step by step on how to install it.

Thanks for that, it looks mostly compatible except my current RAM is DDR pc3200 & the Kingstons are DDR2 PC2-5300. What's the differance & will that make it incompabatible? Here is the detailed report on my Sony: Maximum Memory capacity; 2048 MB, Currently installed 512 MB, Available slots; 2, number of banks; 4, Dual channel support; yes, cpu manufacturer; genuineintel, cpu family; intel pentium 4 cpu 3.20 ghz model 2 stepping 9, cpu speed; 3192 mhz;^]

The difference between 32 and 52 is speed..it all depends on what your looking for. The higher the number the faster the memory speed is. Crucial only shows compatible memory..and its all plug and play.

I just noticed, the kingston memory is 240 pin while the recommended from crucial is 184 pin, I'm guessing a 240 pin wouldn't work. So perhaps I'd be better off to buy 2 of these? http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/ACP-EP-1GB-DDR-400MHz-Dual-Channel-Desktop-Memory-Kit-DDR400KIT1G/sem/rpsm/oid/204704/catOid/-12994/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
