hi guys, im kinda new to this forum. i have been looking at changing my software to virtual dj but have at the same time been looking at getting a new midi controller. im currently running pcdj fx and a dac 3 controller. i have used pioneer equipment for years and was looking for something of the same feel and standard. i am going to get virtual dj but dont want to buy until the correct controller can be hooked up perfectly.
oh and the controller has to be no bigger than 3u high and fit in a 19" rack.
any help and advice would be great
many thanks
iain

You could use your Dac 3 controller with VirtualDJ, as it is native controller, so there is no hassle of midi mapping. There is no perfect controller, user's may say this, other user's may say that, it all depands on what you prefer.
You can Look Here for some ideas.

hi jimmy b, i could use it but the feel of the controller is not that great. it was good to use on my venture into digital djing but im looking to get the feel back that i have had with pioneer equipment. good solid build, nice functions etc. dac's just dont have that feel.

No worries mate.
Alot of guy's are raving about the Denon HC-4500. It's not a native controller yet, but it could possible in the next Update (5.1) hopefully. And by using there X500 and X900 mixers, you could mix video aswell.

i take it you mean by "not native controller" that its not listed as an option in the controller list.
have you seen anyone talking about the new pioneer MEP 7000 / SEP-C1 controller. i think this is the one that i would like to able to use with virtual dj.

Very nice piece of kit, Yes you could use it with VirtualDJ, it's a midi device, but you will have to map it using the midi mapping within VirtualDJ. This Might help you, only a few posts on it.

The Denon HC4500 IS a native controller in the PC version of VDJ 5.0.7 (Take a look in Config -> Remote Control.) There are also mapper plugin DLL's available for it too (One by myself and one by PhantomDJ (PCDJ VJ))
The HC4500 isn't natively supported in the Mac version yet.

Providing you have installed the latest Denon drivers and updated the firmware on the HC4500 (Older versions had a freezing bug), it will be plug and play.
Simply enable it in config ->Remote Control of VDJ and it will start working and will control VDJ. If you want to use the HC4500 sound card (Recommended), you will need to choose that too in VDJ's sound options. You will need the latest version of VDJ v5.0.7 for it to work properly.
The built-in native support is quite basic though, so you will probably want to use a mapper to make the most of the controller (Or if you have programming skills, you could create your own.)

If all I wanted to do was to have a mixer extension of the mixer part of VDJ, would the X-session be a good choice?
Posté Sat 18 Apr 09 @ 1:10 pm
Yes, the Evolution X-Session Pro is ideal for control of the mixer section of VirtualDJ only (Plus basic deck controls such as play and cue.)
There is a ready-made MIDI map for it for registered users of VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/4312/M-Audio_X-Session_MIDI_Map.html

Hello
I am using 2 cdj400 's as controllers on Virtual Vinyl on my macbook and they work perfectly well .... I had some trouble at the beginning configuring them as midi controllers on the Mac but a tutorial on Youtube helped me set it up ... Are there other Pioneer CDJ'S that can be connected with VV without having to reconfigure them ? Perhaps CDJ 800 or CDJ 1000 ???
Thx Dan

Sorry, Pioneer CDJ-800 and CDJ-1000 are not MIDI controllers and are incapable of controlling or interfacing with the software directly. They can only be used via timecode CD to control playback of the decks - http://www.virtualdj.com/products/timecode/cd.html
If you are looking to upgrade to a MIDI capable CDJ that can control the software directly then you would need to purchase either Pioneer CDJ-900 or CDJ-2000.

I am new to the VDJ world. I have been a CD jock for a while and got out for a while, now I am getting back into it. Anyone use the Denon DN-MC6000. I like that it is rack mountable and is a mixer and controller all in one. Anymore Ideas?
