Hi everybody,
My name is James (or Daftendirektour, w/e you wanna call me, just not late for dinner...)
I just bought VDJ, and have been using it for 2 weeks or so...
Everybody should know A-Trax, right? He started @ 15...
Well, I'm a 12 year old, who lives in New Zealand, which wants to become a pro DJ...
(Sounds weird, doesn't it? But everybody has dreams right???)
I LOVE Daft Punk and all those Electronica artists out there, (MSTRKRFT and Tiesto are cool too).
I LOVE Hardcore Trance, Techno, Bouncy Techno (That stuff is old skool now), and most of the Techno generation.
I was planning Hardcore Trance mix (Or Techno) of a Daft Punk song...
Maybe a Around The World Trance Mix or something....
Can you guys (Which are probably all friggin pros at this stuff) tell me if VDJ is the way to go???
Should I use FL Studio/MAGIX Music Maker to create the Hardcore Trance/Techno and VDJ to mix???
Thanks,
A little SOON-TO-BE 12 year old DJ, who needs your guys help...
James, (Daftendirektour)

Heh, I'm glad you know where your heart lies. I remember wanting to be a DJ at your age... and didn't actually follow through with my ambition until recently. :P
I definitely think that VDJ is the way to go -- and if you can, save up for a MIDI controller (I'm using the Hercules DJ Console Mk. II right now). It makes mixing that much easier.
Keep at it, brotha. I hope to hear about you as the next wunderkind.

[P.S. As a fellow Daft Punk, MSTRKRFT, Tiesto, et al. fan, I'm rooting for you all the more. MSTRKRFT has released an acapella and instrumental of "Bounce" (both available on iTunes) and of course there's the acapella to Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" that's floating all over the place. You might want to start with those if you're planning on doing some mash-ups of your favorite artists.
You might also want to check out Justice, the Bloody Beetroots, and SebastiAn on the electronica side of things; and BT, ATB, Armin van Burin, and Delerium (for some really interesting stuff) on the trance side.]

i recommed astralwerks labels, artist like the chemical brothers, fatboy slim, cassius and basement jaxx but i dont think basement jaxx are signed to astralwerks anymore and MSTRKRFT's new album FIST OF GOD is supposed to be available for digital download as of tuesday 3/10/09 and is going to be released on cd and other formats next tuesday, 3/17/09
also check zombie nation they have decent stuff as well
as far as creating music i started with sony acid music studio and magixs music maker but recently purchased fl studio 8, its an incredible program and has much more professional and diverse fuctions then acid studio and magix,it is a little more expensive but you are a younger dude and will probably get many years of use out of it and the nice part is that if u purchase the downloadable version ( all digital) they give you lifetime free updates so you get fl studio 9,10,11 etc for no charge but that only applies with the digital download
