Having started playing on 1200s and a Denon DJ2000 many years ago, I have tried all sorts of different gadgets along the way including minidisk with pitch controls and various cd players and mixers. I finally got into torq and then vdj last year and love it - am using 2 X cdx with timecode to control it but I am sick of having to press buttons to mix the videos separately.
What I want is a mixer that will mix the audio AND the videos at the same time using VDJ with timecodes enabling scratching of vids, etc. I already have a conectiv for a sound card and it works great. As best as I can figure to get this to work I need a mixer which is capable of handling audio and midi at the same time thru the crossfader. I think the Pioneer 800 and 700 mixers will do this but are there any others I can look at? Apparently the Rane wont work because its tied into Serato.
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions for other mixers that will do this? Preferably a bit cheaper than the Pioneers - dont need all the bells and whistles like effects and sampling as its all built into vdj anyway ;)

ddm4000..ecler nou4...ecler nou5...bcd3000/2000...hercules...m-audio x-session...
how much you wanna spend ?what all r you wanting do? how many channels do u need on your mixer? 10"12"rack mountable mixer...
true i have the ttm57 and yes its locked to serato...
i have the ddm4000 for about a month now and i decided to keep it as my vdj midi controller/mixer ;got it for us299 but i think it went up to us399 . for the features and all it a helluva deal. (even though they have a bad rep from a few of their olde pio knock offs, i feel if you take care of your gear it will take care of u.

Thanks for response. I only really need 2 channels and a mic, but a third could be useful.
I am not sure if the hercules or x session would be any good because I really want to keep using my 2X cdx to control things via timecode and they dont appear to have any audio.
The DDM4000 looks like a good option but just worried about all the bad things I have read about Behringer mixers - admittedly most of those writing crap about them dont actually appear to be owners ;) Will the DDM4000 crossfader allow audio and midi at the same time?
What I am really wanting to do is use the timecode cd in the CDX to control the video as I do now and currently I have an external keyboard attached to the pc with keyboard shortcuts mapped to the video crossfader. So I use the audio mixer to beatmix the video in but then I have press the keyboard shortcuts to change the video pics after the mix is done. What I want is a mixer where I can map the crossfader midi to the video crossfader in vdj so when I mix the audio, the video will also mix. ie when I'm cutting from channel 1 to channel 2 using the crossfader on the mixer it will cut the pics as well as the audio. Does that make sense - sorry if I'm not explaining it well.

I have been using the Ecler Nuo 4 for like 2 years now and love it. All I do is video with Timecode Vinyls.
I have it configured to crossfade video on the crossfader and the midi section in the middle triggers loops, cue points, etc.
It is slowly getting phased out so if you want one you better jump on it. I got two of them now. It goes for around $800 or so.
I do like the pioneer DJM800 but there is no dedicated midi buttons for doing things like the cue points, loops, etc... but you can select all the faders to trigger transitions, fades, etc. It is a quality mixer too with plenty of effects to boot.

yes.. actually if you map the ddm fader to the one in vdj ,then link the video crosfaderin vdj ..you could scratch in the video(everytime u move the crossfader the video starts to show(depending how the crossfader curve is set in vdj)
BTW:lol ;) ...yea ppl hear things and pass it along qouted wrong.BUT i know some one who loves his knock off of the pio500/600;
and i read feedback on most store sites saying the channels bleed etc.etc.etc
Hope fully this don't happen since these guys came out with an original design FINALLY!! and the bdc 2000/3000 weren't too bad according to ppl who left feedback on those and they are pretty much midi controllers as well by the same co.
(can midi channels bleed thru?hahaha i sure in the hell hope not .lol

The DDM4000 works great for mixing video, just remember you'll have to send master from VDJ to one channel in your mixer and cue to another channel.

depends on what works for u..
I like to have the video and audio start to come at the instant of the mix instead of riding it first then bringin in the video .(although i do this sometimes too). but to scratch the beginning of certain songs and mix it in from the beginning and show the vid at the same time you'll want it mapped to the cross fader.
( maybe cause i'm a scratch/mix type dj )
