Just buy any computer and install XP yourself. It isn't too hard with all online info...
I've installed XP as a second OS and now I can trash my Vista with all programs and then reboot in XP and run VDJ only.

I buy OEM XP in large quantities as a system builder and unfortunately MS appears to be stopping the sale of ALL XP and OEM XP at the end of this month :(!

check the manufacturers refurbished listings, I know that Dell has plenty of factory refurbished systems available with Windows XP loaded.

Checkout the business section of Dells website. Lookup the Vostro line of computers you can specify Windows XP to be installed at no extra cost.

Is making a vista into a XP risky.........I mean can your computer get messed up? Does your computer work right after you go from vista to XP? And if for some reason you don't want XP anymore can you go back and use vista again?.....................By the way which version of vista is good?

Don't buy one retail...go to the manufactures website and customize your own.
Many manufactures have prebuilt machines on their website that have xp. I have Vista and have not had one of those single issues ppl love to trash vista about...VDJ works great.

Vista is a clusterfuck extraordinaire and to be avoided at all costs. Some people like the new flashy stuff, but I couldn't be done with the hassle.
From an operational perspective, XP is far better and a lot less hassle.
You can eother have a dual boot system with both OS installed and choose between them or a virtual environment running XP within Vista. In haven't tried this yet but I believe it works. All my 6 computers are XP and it's just hassle free.
Vista will end up like ME (if it isn't already LOL)

I'm going to buy XP, but m afraid Vista will soon become better in every way and I'm going to be screwed and stuck with XP.

Vista is present now and working well, you need better hardware to be able to use that OS. If you buy now, go with Vista.

I have a Dell Inspirion e1705 XP laptop and have no issues with it. I've been using it since January 2007.

If you are buying a new laptop get the Vista with it. If you find an little older laptop for some good $$ then go with XP.
Vista will be better for you going forward, most all the bugs are worked out and all the new hardware is being designed to play nicely with Vista.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack, BUT - If i buy a system with vista 64, can i reinstall the 32 bit version of it without major consequences ? Or should i stick to finding something with a 32 bit OS already.
Thanks, Alex
Thanks, Alex

Bad bargain, you have quad CPU which will not run at full at XP, and XP will see only 3GB ram which is in this case not bulid very good. Which firm sells this please? If you can get Vista on this machine than take it.
