Dear All,

I have been using a P2P filesharing website (that will remain anonymous!!) and appear to have picked up a bug.

I have on my external HDD around 300GB of MP3's and it is one of these I believe to actually be a bug masgarading as an audio file.

The reason I know this is because I started getting unwanted popups when browsing and then pages opening advertising unwanted stuff etc. I rebuilt my PC, installed Windows Defender (with the updated engines etc) and my PC was fine ... until I plugged in my external HDD and pretty much instantly I started getting these bloody popups again!?...

Is there any tool on the market (I dont mind paying for it) that will scann all the MP3's/files on my external HDD and tell me which is the bug as I dont fancy going through 300GB worth of audio to find the one that wont load!!!!

Many thanks for your time!!

PHIL

I understand that P2P filesharing websites are illegal, hense why most of us use the legit music download sites and therefore never have this problem. Accepting that you have downloaded from a legit scorce its in all our interest for you to notify the legit site you use of this problem. If none of your virus scanners work try adware remove software or processes which can scan your music finding the smallest mp3 file which may find the culprit.

Google is my friend !!!

Look what kinds of popup you get.
Look for the names at google
Also with everything that you think that will cause the problem look at google.

Wish you luck

Do a virusscan on that external disk, that would probably fix your problem. (Or a spyware scan)

try avg, it's free to try, here there are many more on the market of course but hey it's free.

Spybot Search and destroy
AdAware
AVG
Avast

etc... should fix your problem if not just reformat your hardrive

Do a search, Look for all files under 1Mb. None of these will be music. If you store album covers etc you could be gubbed
