Sujet: Need help with CDJ 400 midi config?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi,

i own a pair of cdj 400s for a week now. I like them very much, but there are still a few things i want to config by myself.

There are a few buttons on the CDJs which are not natively supportet by VDJ (effect buttons, hold, tracksearch). I want to use this buttons with VDJ too and so i tried to map them with the general midi settings in VDJ to use them together with the native support. So far so good it works perfect, just like i've mapped my buttons.

But the Problem is:

I've configured everything for deck1 and deck2. Now i push the a button on my cdj which controlls the deck on the left(for example the effect button) and it also has an effect on the right deck. In the other way it's the same. Do you understand what i mean?

I know what's the Problem, but i don't know how to solve it:

All CDJs are sending the same Midi Signals and VDJ can't realize which Player is sending a which signal. How can i change this, so VDJ knows wich Signal comes from the left and the right CDJ.

Thanks for your answers!

It is possible that you have both of your CDJ-400's midi channels set the same.

You have to physically set each deck to the coresponding deck in VDJ.

Set your left deck to midi channel one, and the right deck to midi channel two and that should take care of the problem

This is done by holding down the text mode/utility mode button unti the menu comes up and then use the dial until you find the midi channel setting

hope this helps

I cannot help u there. .dont want to sidetrack ur question..... but tell could u tell me a how well the CDJ-400 actually works for u now in terms of performance etc. do you find any other problems with them. Really interested in obtaining a pair of them.... and really just want to make sure that my expectations would have been met

Also.. could i am asking tell me about a month from now... how you find them then.. since that would have given you a lot more time to pick up any hitches.. etc.. or more knowledge in terms of performance

@ jjhall5150:

I'll try this. Hope my problem will be soleved with your guide.

@ diditalwiz:

I think the CDJ400s work awesome with VDJ. But scratching lacks. The latency is tooo long. But i didn't buy the Player for scratching. If someone whants to scratch a lot he shouln't buy the 400s but the 1000s.

400's rates high as far as controllers for virtual dj.
400's rate low as far as scratching device for virtual dj. For me this is due to the issue of what happens after the jog wheel is initially moved back an forth.

currently using timecodes and Numark Axis 9 players - scratching pretty good too

Damn.. wanted the CDJ-400 to cut out timecode use... since it was native. What do i do now???
Need a native controller with large enough jogs same size as the cdj-400 or larger and is good at scratching

The 400's are nice, but I agree as far as the wheel goes. It is a little small to be scratching with. My jog wheels on my DVJ players are larger and a little better in the scratching area.

As far as using them as Midi controllers for VDJ. They are fantastic.

Being primarily a wedding DJ, I don't have much of a need anymore for jog wheel scratching, but using the wheel for cuing reasons is quite accurate with the program.

still thinking about my scratching..

My axis 9 jog wheels are the same size as the CDJ-400 and i am comfortable scratchin for the time being
i use timecode here

Just wondering how much better it would be if i used the the CDJs as a native controller in comparison to a timecode controller
