This is called a DP2 media controller from American Audio. (I believe it's locked to they're software platform.)
Good idea.

This is the DP1 I guess this is the unwanted step-child. Think DMC1/DAC2 & Dac3 kinda thing.
I personally think these Controllers look great and would solve a lot of Video crossfader issues where you can have the audio runnning through your standard mixer and then the Crossfader on the Remote working your transitions. Also the Volume faders can controll the volume fade functions.
Unfortunatly there is nothing in the Write-up to indicate if these units are standard midi units or locked units for American Audio's VERSA MIX software.
Good possibilities for video jocks though.

I believe their software is largely made in flash and is audio only at this stage.

I didn't even read the write up on the software.
But I did see some nice possibilities with that controller if it was standard midi, or HID.
The idea is good, the execution not so much. Unless someone wants to use Veramix

I can't say much...yet.
The DP series is NOT tied to american audio's software only. I am currently starting to test with it mapped to VDJ, more info will follow.
It also will ship with a new software bundle (not Versamix) it is audio only as of now, and is very feature filled. The DP2 has buttons that are almost the exact same as the buttons in VDJ, so you should be able to do almost everything from the controller itself (maybe even the track searching and loading, since it has dedicated buttons/knob for that.)

Marcel,
I also politely ask you to edit the title as that is an opinion, not a universally accepted fact.
Also can someone point me in the right direction to maybe become more involved with the support of American Audio products for use with CDJ, as AA also has sound cards, and more things coming down the pipe that will be very useful to VDJ users.

That is a job for the mod's or teamers, we can't alter the title once the thread has been posted :(

Thanks I also just realized, I said "for use with CDJ", I swear I typed VDJ.

Well that's good news that it's not locked.
I would be tempted to try this guy with VDJ. If you feel like Publishing your XML file for other users I'm sure the external tools section would like to have it listed therel.

In the settings you can unlink the crossfader for the video and audio, so vdj already has the control that this post is about. Right?

No the Purpose of this thread was that American Audio had a good idea by combining a Dual Deck style Controller with a mini-mixer in a single unit.
Having owned American Audio Gear before I'm not a big fan of their stuff. But like Numark they Come out with some very innovative ideas.

can't read the small print in the picture, are there "take" buttons like on most of the VDJ video skins so you can crossfade the audio and video seperatley and what about 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 loop buttons?

Better picture. All the buttons light, like the xponent, when used with American Audio\'s Digital Producer software. I will need to figure out how to do with VDJ.

don't see any video fader or take buttons so I'm out
Don't these control manufactures know there are A LOT of us using video that would like to by a controller but if they don't add the video fader or take buttons they are pretty useless to us.

Great products, but China has very few local sales

e-lectric,
Since it is a fully programmable midi controller, you could set any of the knobs or faders for your video fader, may I suggest the track selector knob (the whit one on top in the middle.
This controller lights up on all buttons and knobs like the xponent. Does anyone know who at VDJ I need to get in touch with to set the programming for the lights? The only other mapping issue I am having is that the unit has the auto loop adjust buttons a (+ & -) for each deck for the auto loops of 1/4 1/2 1 2 4 8 16 ect.. I can't find the midi mapping command to program these keys properly to cut or expand the loops. The skins have this function, so there has to be a command for the midi to make this work..

Sorry if I am ignorant on Midi, never used it. So the buttons next to the track selector knobs that point to deck a and deck b can be assigned to the video "take" buttons to automatically switch the video from deck a to deck b and then back again when the VDJ crossfaders are unlinked just like the ones in the Video Vision (and other skins)? Also is the mouse still fully functional for accessing the browser and other functions that aren't mapped to the controller?

e-lectric,
Yes, with the midi you can program any button or know or slider on the controller to perform any of the functions that are in VDJ. If you wanted to you could program the play button to stop, and the cue button to change pitch range, not that you would want to.
And yes the mouse still continues to function as normal when using any controller.

Sweet, I will check it out then, this may be what I was waiting for, Thanks

This looks the same as the Synq PCM.1 controller?
Posté Fri 14 Nov 08 @ 6:30 pm
Hi all
It's 100% look identikal except jogwheel surface

If your're VDJ pro user and use the American DJ try the midi mapping for the Synq PCM.1
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/5608/Synq_PCM_1_Midi_Mapper.html
Could you tell us if all it's ok with the Synq PCM.1 Mapper and if there was something different ?
Best regards
Ooops
