Would it be better to purchase cdj rather that midi hardware. for example a pioneer mk3 instead of a cdj400,denon1200,denon4500,numarkcdx, ect. i want to be a vdj dj but i somehow feel cdj w/sound card or midi mixer is better that most hardware that is for vdj only or midi. anyone disagree.......what do you suggest

I currently use 2 dennon 3500's hooked up to my Ecler EVO5 (evo5 had built in sound card, tons of midi and works great with vdj, also has its own built in sound effects). I love my setup because I can use timecode. I have heard of issues with just some of the new midi devices where there seems to be latency. However that is just what I have heard from other users on this forum. I dont have one to try out so I couldnt tell you. However I can assure you with the setup above works great, oh and running it on quad core pc with 4gb ram, and about 4tb worth of storage.

I preffer Using cdj 1000mk3 with time codes. Midi is ok but you can do all the things that midi does with the laptop keyes. Even though i have an HC4500, i will always use the Pioneers first. I play better with the CDJs than the denon. I am more of a scratching dj and i change up music fast to keep the crowd hyped up and on the edge all night. Time codes rock
