basically what is the difference... i think i want a 1TB drive so whats the difference between something like this http://www.amazon.com/LaCie-301304U-External-Design-Poulton/dp/B0010YWPZ8/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225285541&sr=8-26 which is a very reasonable price... and something like this http://www.amazon.com/1TB-USB-External-Hard-Drive/dp/B001BZS0EQ/ref=sr_1_46?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1225285613&sr=8-46 which is more expesive ... is there something i should know about performance or anything with these externals? thanks

Do you really need 1 tb. i have a 500 gig western digital hd which i have over a millions songs on and it still aint full. but i would chose the LaCie Hard Disk 301304U 1 TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive.

I would go with Seagate, while LaCie makes a good drive, Seagate usually offers a 5 year warranty on most of their products. If you shop around you should be able to find the 1TB Seagate for about the same price as the LaCie.

go with a eSata, usb is 480mbps and the eSata is 1.5 gps data moving that much faster and faster read write rates but one thing to remember is not to get a expantion card that is esata to pci as this will be really slow make sure that the cable coming out of the esata conection goes into a sata port on the mobo
thank you and have a nice day\night
