Does anybody suffer from this, especially if it has been a good gig.
I've been suffering from this lately, wondered if anybody else does.

Light a good cigar, pour yourself a double shot of Drambuie, and turn out the lights and enjoy.
By the time the cigar is done you'll be ready for sleep.

I get it too jimmy, it's the endorphines and adrenaline, quite a few need to 'come down' after a good gig and it's common, try taking a couple of nytol, that works pretty well.

personally i just tune in to VDJ radio for awhile - i know i'll hear some good music that can relax me enough so i can even think about sleep

Cheers mate I think I will,
I'm of into town later so I'll pick some up and give them a try.

Same thing here
To bed at 2 and up at 6:30
I have heard it is the sub frequencies that do it to us.
Particularly after a great party, the excitement of success won't let us shut down.

This is where being a mobile guy pays off. We get to burn off some of that energy when we tear down. But still 60-90 minutes later I have that pent up feeling after a good gig. Like I want to call my DJ buddies and brag a bit.... ;-)

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who suffers from this.
Lack of sleep............... don't you just love it, lol

I too have to wind down after a gig. I try my best to get a good buzz going at the show to help, but after a really good show, no amount of alcohol can bring me down. I've given up on solutions. I just live with it. I carry a full time job through the week as well, so lack of sleep is something I've been living with for many years now.

I can confirm that, when I play in the big club surrounded by big subwoofers I have this problem, at least 2 hours can't sleep. I noticed when I play in smaller pub, there is no this problem.

Of the DJs I know, none of them can sleep when they get home. I got home around 3am last night. I knew I had to be up at 9am for my sons football game (which they won 13-0!!!). Laid down about 315 and was out of bed at 330. Finally got tired around 430. I guess we're all just in love with ourselves for leading the sheep all night. I'd rather lose sleep doing the job I love, than one I hate :-)

You can call me Terry, I'm a natural night owl...lol I usually don't go to sleep until I hear the birds chirp but the funny thing is as soon I throw down some fast food grease I end up sleep 10 minutes after I eat it... I hate that I spent money on that junk then I end falling asleep right after- go figure!

I cant sleep either so I go home and throw my dell against the brick wall a few times and magically I feel better and want to go to sleep.
Posté Sat 22 Nov 08 @ 3:30 pm
normally takes me anywhere between 2 & 3 hours to come down after a gig, will take less depending on the amount of snakebites i've had, lol.
Posté Sat 22 Nov 08 @ 5:38 pm
yeah sometimes the tear down definitely helps.
i am curious to learn more about the bass hypothesis, is there any scientific evidence to back this up? would love to read about it.
usually i cant sleep either...too many songs going through my head, too many what-ifs, or should haves, too many images of hot hot chicks.
the doctor recommends rolling a spliff, rubbing one out, and a valium.

What kind of doctor do you have? Is it Elvis' doctor? Dr. Nick? I thought he lost his license..... ;-)

Just ran in to the wall head first, that should do the trick (and cost nothing except the wall if you damage it) :)

Geeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzus, I think I'm gonna pucking cry. Let me see if I can help you poor guys out, before one of you slits his wrist. This works for me. Hook up with one (or two, if you're good) of the hottest girls in the party. Take them for breakfast at your place. The next thing you know, you are touching each others private parts. I sleep like a log after. The best part about it is, I no longer use any mood or mind altering substances, so I remember it all. Well, at least until Alzheimer's sets in, I am getting up there.
