Is it advisable to run the windows updates. I don't want to run the update because my system works perfectly now and if I install something and it doesn't agree with my config I would have to start windows all over again.
what are your thoughts from the computer geeks!!!

Vista, or XP Fat?....and what version are you running now. But my rule of thumb is if its not broke, don't fix it.....

Vista... I just want to use the clip bank randomize and I guess I need to download the current vc++ but also says to have the latest system and security update.

I suggest not to update and stick only to major big updates like service packs (SP3 for XP and SP1 for Vista).
You can benefit from smaller updates only in security.
But remember to update your DirectX.

About 2 weeks ago I did an update on Vista and when I went to reboot I had no graphics, I had to go into safe mode, uninstall the update, then reboot and uninstall the graphics driver, then reinstall the update, then reinstall the graphics driver.
I was soo pissed off as this was the day of the gig, luckily I have a dual boot and was able to use the other OS partion. So from now on I will only update AFTER gigs. I tend to get all the updates as my system is always online for Napster and such.

Random Clipbank Video has no dependancies on DirectX :)
As per my post in the plugin forum though, I would recommend installing the VC++ runtimes and DirectX 9 updates for all systems (including Vista) anyway.
Any other updates should be at the users discretion, and only be performed when you have time to test the system thoroughly before a gig.

Well, the random plug-in ran beautifully last night and it's one (1) of the best and most useful plugin I have. A close second next to the random video transition. The only thing is it only recognises the main dll and not any others. So, I had to rearrange my clip banks - no biggie. It would be nice if it had an option to cycle through all dll. The next thing is you can't do any other visual affects while it's turned on because it contantly displays what current image it just cycle on. Now that was annoying, but other than that BEAUTIFUL creation.
Check marking the " use when no video is playing " feature is the perfect solution than having that 2-3 second black screen in transition. I'm only saying this because I finally had time to dial everything in to perfection yesterday.
I wish I could say the same thing about the sound system. Man, the system sounded like crap. I don't know what they did between the night before and last night but it sucked b*lls. I tinkered arround with the eqp and manage to turn on a set of speakers that was not working. I think they turned the conditioner down on the input or something. The more I pushed the less I got out. Of course the management had no clue of any audio know how.
So, to any of you up and coming DJs. Learn the basics of DJing. Your not always going to have a monitor and you have to mix by earphone or have the perfect sound system. Your not always going to have a simple plug your usb controller in and go. Because, your staff members are not going to be to helpful in most cases and you never know what a DJ did the show before so you have to troubleshoot before your gig.
VDJ is very nice and one of the best in my opinion but it's only a tool. Learn everything else about DJing because your going to need that knowledge.
Just a public service anouncement.

What video card are you using. I may be incorrect about this but not all video cards can handle direct 10. Example, My pc has direct 10 vista and my laptop has direct 9 vista.
Look up your video card's website and it should tell you.
