KEY

ACTION

S SHIFT
Press and hold this button to access secondary functions as described in this manual
1 PLAY
Press to play the loaded track. Press again to pause the track. The LED will blink when track is paused and lit solid when track is playing
2 CUE
When track is paused, press this button to set current track's position as a temporary CUE point. Press and hold this button to preview track while held. While held, press PLAY to continue playing or release to return to the CUE position.
When track is playing, press this button to return to the stored CUE position (or the beginning of the track if no CUE is set.
The LED of this button will blink if the track is paused but current position is not the stored CUE point and lit solid in all other cases.
3 SEARCH
Press these buttons to move track backwards/forward by 4 beats (while kept pressed)
4 TRACK SEARCH
Press the left << button to load the next track from the focused Browser list.
Press the right >> button to load the next track from the focused Browser list.
In both cases, the playing status (playing or stopped) will be kept.
5 DIRECTION
Move the latch switch down to change the playback direction. When enabled (REV led is lit) the track plays backwards. Move back to the middle position to disable and continue normal playback from the current position.
Move and hold the latch to the upper position to play the track in reverse while held. When released, track will resume to the position it would have been if never reversed.
6 BANK A
Press this button to control Hotcues 1-4 with the 4 hotcue buttons (8)
7 BANK B
Press this button to control Hotcues 5-8 with the 4 hotcue buttons (8)
8 HOT CUES
In Hotcue mode (default) :
Use these 4 buttons to assign or trigger Hotcues 1 to 8 (depending on which Bank button is active). When a Hotcue is not assigned, use the button to set a Hotcue at the current track position. When assigned, buttons will jump track to their set position.
Hold SHIFT and then use these buttons to delete their assigned Hotcues.

In Stems mode :
When Bank A is active these buttons will control Stems.
When Bank A is active these buttons will control Stems FX.

In Sampler mode :
When Bank A is active trigger Samples 1 to 4.
When Bank A is active trigger Samples 5 to 8.
9 SLIP
Enable/disable Slip mode. When enabled, several actions such as holding the platter, loop and Hotcues will act temporarily and once performed, track will resume to the position it would have been if the action was never performed
10 LOOP 4
If track is not in loop, press this button momentarily to enable a 4 beats auto-loop.
Press and hold this button down to enable an 8 beats auto-loop.
When in loop, use this button to half the size of the loop
11 LOOP IN
When not in Loop, use this button to set current track's position as the beginning of the loop.
When in loop, use this button to enable/disable Loop In Adjust mode (LED will blink fast) and then use the jogwheel to fine-adjust the entry point of the Loop.
12 LOOP OUT
When Loop In is set, use this button to set current track's position as the end point of the loop and enable the loop..
When in loop, use this button to enable/disable Loop Out Adjust mode (LED will blink fast) and then use the jogwheel to fine-adjust the exit point of the Loop.
13 RELOOP
When in loop, use this button to exit the loop. If not in loop, use this button to enable the last triggered loop (reloop) and jump to its position..
14 QUANTIZE
Enable/disable Quantize mode. When enabled, several actions such as loops and Hotcues will be quantized (snapped) to the nearest beat or other beat fraction depending on the globalQuantize value (from VirtualDJ Settings)
15 TIME MODE
Toggle between Elapsed and Remain Time view. Hold down for more than 1 second to enable/disable AutoCue. When enabled, tracks will loaded at the first available Hotcue position
16 NEEDLE SEARCH
Use this touch sensitive area of the display to scroll through the track. The deck will enter playback mode while you keep thouching this area (if it wasn't playing allready) in order to allow you to preview the track.
17 BEAT LOOP
Tap to show/hide a panel with quick Loop buttons on the screen
18 BEATJUMP
Tap to Jump 1 beat backwards
19 BEATJUMP
Tap to Jump 1 beat forward
20 CUE CALL
Use these buttons to jump to the previous/next assigned Hotcue.
If a loop is active, press the buttons to halve / double the size of the loop.
Hold SHIFT down and then use these buttons to switch the Hotcue buttons between Stems (PREVIOUS button) or Sampler (NEXT button) mode (when Hotcue Buttons are set to Alternative mode).
21 DELETE
This button does not have any function assigned to it in VirtualDJ
22 MEMORY
Hold SHIFT and press this button to toggle the HOTCUE buttons between HOTCUE and Stems/Sampler (Alternative mode)
23 JOG ADJUST
Adjust how heavy or light the Jogwheel will be
24 JOGWHEEL
Use the jogwheel to scratch, pitch-bend or adjust the entry and exit loop positions.
When VINYL mode is enabled, use the upper/inner part of the wheel to scratch the track backwards/forward and the outer part (side) to pitch-bend (temporary speed-up/slow-down tempo)
When CDJ mode is enabled use any part of the jogwheel to pitch-bend (temporary speed-up/slow-down tempo)

The LCD screen will display the CUE position and a track rotation marker
25 TEMPO RESET
Use this button to gradually reset Track's tempo back to its original value.
26 TEMPO
Use this fader to adjust the tempo (BPM) of the track. In middle position, the track will play at its original tempo (BPM). The pitch% and BPM value are displayed on the LCD of the unit.
27 MASTER TEMPO
Use this button to enable/disable Master Tempo (Keylock). When enabled, pitch/tempo changes will not affect the Key of the track
28 TEMPO RANGE
Use this button to select the % range for the Pitch fader. On each press, the range will cycle through 6,10,16 and 100%. The selected range is displayed on the LCD of the unit
29 SYNC
Use this button to synchronize Tempo (BPM) and Beat phase to the other Deck or Master Deck - if more than 2 Decks are used.
Press and hold this button to clone the track from the other deck to this deck (instant doubles)
30 MASTER
Use this button to manually set the Deck as Master. When a Deck is set as Master, all other Decks will sync to the Master Deck, if SYNC is pressed.
31 JOG MODE
Press to toggle between VINYL or CDJ mode for the Jogwheel
32 RELEASE/START
Use this knob to adjust the time the track will take to reach full speed from paused. If knob is at the minimum position, the track will start playback immediately. If in other positions, track will emulate a vinyl rampup when playback starts.
33 TOUCH/BRAKE
Use this knob to adjust the speed the time the track will take to stop when paused. If knob is at the minimum position, the track will pause immediately. If in other positions, track will emulate a vinyl brake when paused.
34 EJECT
This button does not have any function in VirtualDJ
35 TAG TRACK
Press this button to switch the browser focus to the sideview.
Press and hold this button to advance the contents of the sideview (sidelist/automix/sampler e.t.c.)
36 BACK
If scatchview (main view) is active on the display, press this button to enter the browser view.
If browser view is active press this button to switch focus on folders view.
If folders view is active press this button to open/close subfolders.
37 TRACK FILTER
This button does not have any function in VirtualDJ
38 BROWSE
If scratchview (main view) is active on the display rotate this encoder to change the zoom of the waveforms.
If browser view is active, turn this encoder to select a track or a folder. Press this encoder down to load the selected track on the deck, or to switch focus from folders to tracks view
39 SHORTCUT
This button does not offer any functionality in CONTROL MODE
40 MENU
This button does not offer any functionality in CONTROL MODE
41 INFO
This button does not offer any functionality in CONTROL MODE
42 TAG LIST
This button does not offer any functionality in CONTROL MODE
43 BROWSE
Press this button to switch the display to browser view
44 SOURCE
Use these buttons to switch the source for the deck
Press the LINK button and follow on screen instructions to enable and select CONTROL MODE for use with VirtualDJ
45 SD CARD SLOT
Insert a compatible SD card. This source is not used when the device is assigned to VirtualDJ
46 USB TYPE A
Insert a compatible USB media storage device. This source is not used when the device is assigned to VirtualDJ
47 USB STOP
Press and hold this button to eject a USB device. This operation is not used when the device is assigned to VirtualDJ


DISPLAY SETTINGS

A few settings are available in VirtualDJ->Settings->OPTIONS tab->Controller sub-category.
  • NeedleLock : When set Yes, touching the Progress wave on the Display will not have move the track if the Deck is audible
  • jogOnairDisplay : When set to Yes, the ring of the CDJ-2000NXS2 platter will change color if the Deck is audible.
  • screenAutoScratchview : When enabled the screen view will automatically change to the Decks (Scratch) view when a new track is loaded from the Browser view
