One thing that I would really like to see is a vinyl mode where the outside is used for jogging and pitch bending, and the inside can be used for scratching. Should that be doable?

There is no - inside and outside - there is only the C1 ring along the rim -- and there are 'sliders / faders' on the inner portion. There is only 1 ring.

In the circular wheel all the DaScratch presentations from Stanton show that you can use the outside for scrubbing and the inside vertical portion for scratching, when you need finer control. I assumed that they were independent controls, so you could map one to jog and one to scratch mode...

They do send two distinct signals, though the inner portion is technically a slider and not a jog wheel...

Would you then just make it a relative slider, like the pitch slider is?

you can treated anything that sends a cc signal as a jog wheel, even a knob or slider. I treat it as a jog wheel. DaRouter software controls its sensitivity , but I'm sure it can be done in VDJ as well.

has any else come across the application crash whe you tap the eq mode button?

Mine bombs the application out. No Crash guard, just the winows "Encountered an error, report to Microsoft" message box. every time i tap the eq mode buton.

I don't think its a VDJ configuration, think there may be conflict between midi signals!!!! Could do with a fix!

Any response would be useful.

Thanks.

Not had any response to this yet, i have also flagged this up with VDJ as a support ticket but nothing come back... anyone know anything??

Thanks

I can't say I've had the issue. Did you look in your event log to see if another error pops up? IS it plugged into a USB hub with other devices or directly to the computer?

Been playing with mines like a madd-man.Got some more Jet Li, Bruce Lee, David Carradine kung-fu, and going berserk.
Can't believe I've been missing out on some of the best scratch samples. Their in TV and movies cause they use lots of sound fx. When I first strated using/making movies clips, it was dissappointing, because I hadn't realised just how much music is in the background on most movies. So it shot the heck out of the idea to scratch samples.
But action stuff is great; lots of punches, kicks, gunshots, everything.

Hi, No i haven't looked in my event log, will have a look tonight, i'm not too clued up on the logging techniques for VDJ. THe controller in USB straight into my Sony Vaio Laptop.

No worries, like i said i'll check the event log and if not hopefully the supoprt chaps will determine the cause. i'll try and post a video as well to show the problem.

Thanks for the responce.

Almost there ... have a few items to work out ...

I have discovered a few 'limitations' that will have to wait for an upgrade to the Mapper engine ... but I will be able to release a 'functional' definition and mapper ... just a few things will have to wait for a software upgrade ...

This is without having to run through the DaRouter ... it's 100% direct and native ...

Sorry for being so short of a clip ....

Hmm... looking good! Can we get some details as to what works, and what the capabilities are?

It all works ... and assignable ... have some more elements to add to the definitions ...

the limitations I mentioned is that Stanton has chosen to implement the LED color changes (just the button LEDs) by sending a different velocity value to the same MIDI note to get the Red, Blue, or Red+Blue color for the buttons. This is an unconventional implementation for doing something like that ... it works .. it just only works well when engaging 1 color ... going between colors there is something not right that we will have to add to the Mapper engine in a later version.

Any chance we get to play with this soon? I'd love to do some testing on my end if you like.

There's going to be an upcoming software update? Or are you simply stating that you won't be able to overcome some of the limitations until there is an update to the Mapper engine?

BTW, are you saying that it's potentially possible to get the kind of versatile functionality shown in the Mixx video a few posts earlier?

The limitations is primarily limited to the support of the multi-color LEDs - not the actual touch functionality. Functional control will not have to wait for a software update.

As for the 'multi-touch' - yes you can do that ... working on putting some things together ... will be a couple days and then a 'thumbs up' response from Stanton ... then I will put something out for release.

@Chris, or whoever

I do really like the look of this controller,( it's all those pretty led's lol) and I may consider purchasing 1 (or 2). My question is, can one "unit" control both decks in VirtualDJ, or is 2 needed.
