Sorry to be serious for a second, but you can already to instant switch in/out of samples via VDJScript.

That's it, for me. What the *&^%$ is VDJScript. I need someone to teach me how to understand this and use it. There are a lot of things I do well, this is not one of them.

If i was in charge of Atomix, i would hire 2 or more employees, to be in the right place and right moment, to say to those Vendetta Djs ..
Hey ... Use VirtualDJ and forget Cds :D

I'm happy to knock up some basic tutorials and FAQs though if you like.

Tried that link awhile back, and it seemed like I was in Beijing. Thanks, I may take you up on that offer. Will send a PM.

About those CD errors above. Two superstar DJs, and they were lost under pressure. You would think they would be able to handle things a little better, because of the amount of money they make. I actually felt for them. Only for a minute.

....I would focus on the timecode issue...some of us really need that to happen..

Do my best to make the software more user friendly.

I would do my best to make it "Plug and Play" with no strenuous configurations.

I would do my best to improve on sound quality and EQ.

I would do my best to improve Time code, both vinyl and CD.

I would do my best to have VDJ work seamlessly with Numark NS7.

I would do my best to have VDJ work on Mac as well as it does on Windows.

I would create a dedicated controller for VDJ that rivals the Numark NS7.

I would create a dedicated Soundcard for VDJ.

I would create a Pro Level edition of VDJ with a dedicated LOCKED controller that includes the soundcard that rivals the NS7 and any other controllers out there.

I would scrap all the different editions in favor of a limited edition and a Pro Level Edition. The Limited edition for use with multiple controllers and soundcards, The Pro Level edition for strict use with the Dedicated Locked Controller.

I would severely limit or completely do away with user made skins. Not that I don't like all the skins that have been created over the years by the extremely talented VDJ users, but to me, it takes away from the product rather than adds to it. I would make one GUI and make 2 or 3 slight variations of that skin. (UNIFORMNESS) I would take the best of all ideas from all the skins created and incorporate them into the existing GUI.

I would keep the user made effects but they would not be so readily downloadable. Instead, They would be standard in the Pro Level Edition.

After accomplishing all the above....
I would rake in the dough while sipping on a glass of champaign and brainstorming on how to improve on what I have already accomplished.
I would do my best to reform the perception of VDJ to a professionally recognized software designed for Pro use.

But that's just "me" though...

DJ City
CityLifeProductions.net

I would heavily market VDJ as a professional level DJ software. It may take some re-branding but would be well worth having superstar DJs and producers using and promoting the software!

Can I ask a quick questiion? How many of you guys are business owners?

I am, notice I have not commented...it's easier to say "I would do..." than it is to do...

I am the owner of my DJ and production Business.

I know how to run my business but have NO IDEA how to run a business like Atomix.

I state what I dream I would do in a perfect DJ CITY world.

I would go NUTS!!!!.....hmmm thats happening anyways.....he,he

Terry,

I see that.

Anyways I reason I asked was because I'm curious. I also find it fascinating to see the diversity of the responses here. Anyways, lets not let this die just yet. Lets take this up a notch. Heres the scenario. Hypothetically...

You receive a phone call, on the other end is Stephane Clavel (you hear women screaming in the background) In a heavy French accent he informs you for the next 24-48 hours you are the acting CEO you hang up the phone you then....

I am but I've not really commented on the 'if I ran Atomix' situation.

I am a business owner as well.

...keep the business running as per usual. I don't believe 24 - 48 hours as acting CEO would give me the right to make any changes at that point. It would simply give me the power to run the company in the interim till whatever Stephane has got into sorts itself out or I have to go post bail. :)

AC

responsibility sucks... i would call Cyder and tell him he just got promoted for 24-48 hours!

wait... what kind of screaming? the good kind or the bad kind?

I would instantly join a fitness club and wear my best underpants so I could entertain the lovely ladies from Ukraine ........

Seriously, I run my own business both for DJ purposes and my main job in the oil industry here in Aberdeen. Although this thread seems like fun it's actually very brave for a company to ask customers about ideas for improvement. This can attract negative comments but let's not forget how far Atomix have come since the days of Atomix MP3. Pro users still get FREE upgrades and the people running the company are here every day on the forums supporting users. I own a lot of software and there are very few companies provide that level of service. That is something Atomix should be proud of.

Keith

i would defo try get the mac version to the same platform as windows version....
be able to use different colours for browser ie yellow titles for video...blue for karaoke ect instead of icons...
maybe the ability to tag and rename software built in.....

and most important bring all my professional users to ibiza to spin and party for 2 weeks oh yeh

If I was the Boss @ Atomix I would

A) Hire a team of developers to develop an effects plug in suite that would rival Traktor's effects....IF the current budget didn't allow for such development I would charge a fee for the Effects Plug In Suite to cover development costs. I know many people like myself wouldn't mind paying for some quality effects.

B) I would redesign the "VirtualDJ" logo as I find the current one very basic and uninspiring.

C) I would add a profile save option in VDJ so that people like me who have different controllers and sound card don't have to change the settings every time we change out the hardware.

D) I would have the website team work on a web page on the site solely dedicated to all the different settings for all the supported hardware. How is a newbie supposed to know they have to search the forum for their settings when their controller does not work out the box. I think this is one of the main reasons why so many people think VDJ isn't reliable, because they don't know how to set it up for their hardware.

E) I would have the web developers incorporate a custom google site search instead of the current forum search as I feel the current forum search really sucks! http://www.google.com/cse/

F) I would work with an OEM hardware manufacture to develop our own dedicated controller, but it must be pro grade or don't even bother doing it. Maybe a bedroom DJ option also. Our controller would come bundled with an even better version of VDJ that is locked to work with our hardware.

G) I would establish a certification process so that 3rd party manufactures can submit their hardware to Atomix so it can become a certified hardware solution for VDJ. Certification would mean that both the software and the hardware would work together flawlessly out the box without needing any extra tweaking by the end user.

H) I would put together a youtube video team that would be in charged of filming DJs doing awesome things with VDJ, also the team would do a series of tips and tricks videos.

I) Develop for Android, there are far more Androids in the world than there is Ipads, Iphones.

J) Develop a stand alone Android/Ipad app that would be able to do all the cool things VDJ does but without needing to be connected to a computer. Kind of like algorithm djay.

K) Develop a "Premium Downloads" section accessible thorough VDJ program kind of like an APPS store for VDJ. Here licensed VDJ users with a valid credit card, debit card or paypal account can purchase premium downloads. The free downloads are cool but sometimes I feel like they are cheap and take away from the program a bit. Maybe if we can somehow compensate these programmers for their hard work we can get higher quality development. Only high quality plug ins would qualify for the VDJ apps store, all other programs that don't make the cut would go to the freebie section unless the developer works on it some more and bring it up to the standards that Atomix would expect a paid app to meet.

That's it for now, if you use any of my ideas I expect to be compensate LOL JK however a VDJ shirt would be cool!
