Yes it can, by purchasing a license https://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

So, since the previous message was completely unclear and didn't specify which license to buy, I bought the wrong one. I bought the one that does exactly what the free version does and now I'm out $70+ with nothing to show for it. A Virtual DJ program that I will no longer use. Any chance to get a refund or, if not, to cancel so I don't get charged for subsequent years of non-use?

Thinking about not use Virtual DJ any longer. Having known that I would have this annoying sound, I would have bought Serato. Really disapointed!

Quickly contact support, they maybe able to allow you to get the license you wanted to buy, for the difference in price.
(since there was a misunderstanding causing the mistake)

IMHO, the best choice is the VDJ Infinity license (Lifetime) one time purchase of $299.

Both of those pages indicate which versions have the audio announcement, and which don't.

I don't need the new features on the latest version. Anyone know if I load up an older version, will it eliminate the name drop?

I suggest you try it and find out.

annoying indeed and ruining mixes

TBH I don't see how it's "ruining" anything. It's the name of the software, every now and again.
No different really to a DJ dropping their name in the mix.

I understand the name drop , although it's quite annoying, but can it at least be set less louder. I use Virtual DJ for home use and love to listen to long mixes through my headphone, but now I get a scare every time the namedrop comes in. I cannot afford a monthly fee to use this further excellent app.

so you have to pay £240 to get pro to remove the message, total rip off. Even paying £48 will not remove the message. Reckon most folk will just switch to a better prpduct that isnt trying to rip folk off. Give it away free, get them in then rip them off. CON

It's professional DJ software. Plenty other options out there if you just want to muck around.

It seems like the new Early Access (b8966) may have adjusted the volume
As for the rip off comment - you can't really complaint about being ripped off if you spent no money on a product, because you didn't give anything to expect something for in return (your licence says free, not sure if you subscribed before). DJs that are actually experienced with different software titles would realize that the pricing is comparable, and VirtualDJ is one of the few options that has a buy outright option.
If you want to use and enjoy the features these guys worked hard to implement (as their job), then paying them the (imo reasonable) asking price shouldn't be an issue...especially if you are employed/working for money and/or using the product in your line of employment.
If you never paid, you always were trialing the software (the EULA always stated that).

Quickly made that correction (don't want to be the cause of another influx of complaints).

The only thing that is free is advice.... if you like the product pay for it....

I'm using VDJ for 10+ years and I didn't expect such genius idea. Seems VDJ team hired some "effective managers". As a software engineer with 15+ years of experience - I saw that several times, how such decisions killed good products.
An example from another area: there was a Filmic app for making videos on iOS, it was top1 app for filmmakers because of flexibility, and they had a perpetual license. But later, "effective managers" decided that they need more money, they canceled all updates for owners of perpetual license and the only one option was an overprice subscription. And now... no one using Filmic, project is dead, people switched to BlackMagic camera app.
To summarize: I fully understand the wish of VDJ team to prevent users from non-licensed activities, but you should choose another options. Maybe disable autoplay functionality in free version and introduce a cheap perpetual home license with basic (classic) functionality. I believe that people who are using VDJ on a regular basis for home needs will simply support you with purchasing a "home" license, but do a reasonable price. For example, 20-50$ is nothing for US, but it's a lot for east Europe.
Dear VDJ team, Please, respect your users, because this software is not for the wide audience and good+constant community is not what you want to loose in favor of short-term income.

Dear VirtualDJ Team,
I would like to raise a concern regarding the watermark sound included in the Home license.
In my view, applying a watermark to a paid Home license is unfair. The watermark should remain only in the free version, while any paid license should allow normal, uninterrupted use of the software.
I respectfully ask you to reconsider this policy and remove the watermark sound from the Home license.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
